Thread Makers can block people from their threads
If someone makes a thread, let them block people who come in and just derail the thread.

ONLY for that thread, and only once that person has made at least one post.

BUT! the people are only blocked on that thread, give them a warning at the top that they are blocked on that thread so they are not surprised or hurt.

This idea will keep threads clean and on topic which helps everyone and prserves valuable mod time making everyones life easier.

And stops people derailing threads.

When the thread maker just wants to talk about their idea.

They aren't your threads.

Not going to happen, that would turn the thread into an echo chamber for the OP. Not allowed.

Mods are pretty active and quick with their decisions. Forums aren’t made to silo your ideas, rather test them in the public space. If they draw unusual negative attention it’s either you or your post. Other than those two, they are opportunities to clarify your post and make the case for it stronger. Make use of the opportunity or let the merit of their opinions and comments stand for themselves.

Nope, as repeatedly said and you've had it repeatedly explained you won't be given moderator powers on the forums. If you want that power you can already do so, simply make your own group and then you will have that power as the owner of the group.

When you post to STEAM'S PUBLIC forum, Steam, not you gets to decide who can post. Nor do you get to decide whose posts are off topic or not. If people post off topic you can report them and let steam decide.

We have repeatedly seen in the past people declare anything that contradicts or exposes a flaw in an idea and users flat out saying anyone disagreeing with them is off topic, so this would be widely abused
If you want an echo chamber, just create a group and only invite your friends.
Not going to happen.

Thanks for playing.

Suggestion #28462 promoting the creation of echo chambers with extra steps. Users are not moderators, and Valves never going to give regular users the power to limit how OTHER users interact with the forums.

Everyone is invited.

Which would be great if everyone shared the same ideals. Unfortunately, giving thread authors the ability to block users who reply to their posts would be used to silence those who disagree and help spread misinformation by blocking those trying to correct it.

Not your thread, case closed.

If you want modpower, go and maker your own forum or create a Steam group.

Thanks but no thanks:steamthumbsdown:

And where is this "steam group" Is it part of main forum, or is it viewable for anyone else? Otherwise that is moot point.

Blocking is NOT modpower. Other websites do exactly the same thing. It called user figures for their own account. I agree and support OP suggestion.

Edit: currently "steam group" is not in "All Discussions" tab nor in any subforums.

Op request power to block other users from posting in a topic he created, that is indeed modpower.

This is a forum not a blog.

/Have a great day.
