As for VAC ban, it was a reason why i didn't start using it from february, when i lost ability to play dota (it requires new steam client now to play). I stayed with my old games and was happy (kind of) but sadly this new compression system ruined everything for win7 users. They can't update games, can't buy new ones, etc. If i get banned for this- it will be super unfair. Anyway, i simply have no other options. I really tried them all. Tried SteamOS (failed to install), tried another linux (ubuntu) but it's buggy as hell and user-hostile. And here i am.

it will not help with epic mickey rebrushed, as that uses direct x 12. not even feature level 12 is enough, you need 12_1.
I saw an article somewhere in the internet that transfers stuff from DX12 into API Vulkan. (in context of playing new games on win7) so maybe i'll read it later.

VAC ban will occur only if you happen to use VxKex in a game that has VAC support in it tho
Like if you try to launch CS2 or Dota2 with VxKex as it does count as DLL injection which does increase the risk of you getting banned by a large margin
But if you use VxKex to launch newer Steam versions and download games then nothing will happen tbh. it's just the online play which is the concerning

Speaking of Vulkan. I did mention here about the usage of DXVK which does convert DirectX 11 and 12 calls into Vulkan which does give you the chance of launching newer games that were designed for Windows 10 or later and it does work with the port of God of War (2018) for example
However.. Since you guys are limited to old GPU drivers, it also means that you will be limited to older Vulkan versions and possibly missing features.
So your millage with DXVK will vary depending upon the game.

dxvk currently only works with direct x 9 and 11. though they have removed support for older drivers. i checked their github page. some games simply retains windows 7 compatibility while some drops it. star wars empire at war used to work in windows 7 but, now it requires dll files unique to windows 8 and newer. not that you need dxvk for evil genius 2. that includes vulkan support.

Okay, Finaly I managed to fix Steamworks Common Redistributables issues on my PC.

1.// Exit Steam and Download the VC 2022 Redist with SteamCMD or DepotDownloader
https://steamdb.info/depot/228989/
2.// Enter Steam and check all your installed games wich one use Steamworks Common Redistributables (those what try to download it when you launch the game) and made note list about these games
3.// Exit Steam and Move (NOT copy) all noted games from step 2. what use SCR to a different folder on same Drive (so it will be fast as windows just rearange their path, no real copy)
4.// Made a Backup Copy of Steamworks Shared folder (from steamapps\common)
5.// Enter Steam and now Uninstall all these games by Steam
6.// Uninstal Steamworks Common Redistributables then Exit Steam
7.// Copy back the step 4. backup of your Steamworks Shared folder as also copy on it the step 1. downloaded VC 2022 Redist
8.// Enter Steam and Install Steamworks Common Redistributables (will be almost instant) then Exit Steam again
9.// Move back all your games from step 3.
10.// Enter Steam and start to install back these games, it will just verify the files
Validating big games take alot of time. I realy hope Valve not update SCR again any soon.

Note: Be carefull, double check before you move on steps.

Thank you! This works, but with some changes (in my case) :)
it might be useful for people that do not have access to a windows 10 pc. i just used my windows 10 pc to get around it. though i rarely use that pc, since it generates a lot of heat and my living room is hot enough as it is. though it helped me fix the issuie however.

Sounds bad. I've seen some people still playing dota2 from february, and still no VAC bans there... Does any bans already happened because of VxKex?

Not that I'm aware of but also most people who play those games have upgraded to Windows 10 or switched to Linux as its just the safer option for that use case

There is no guarantee that you will be banned but the risk is just much higher and it's not something I would recommend for online games which do have an anti cheat
if you want to play Dota then I would suggest trying it out on an alt account first

Note here with bidulless help we figured out that DXVK 1.10.3 version the last one what working on Win7 because of Vulcan version limitation.

Im glad it helped you. :)
Can you please elaborate what you made differently?
We should share experience so everyone can find a solution for the issue.

Anyone wanna venture a guess to why this is being aggressively implemented? If a decently large subset of users (jeez, it autocorrected to "sunset" at first) is unable to play, that's no good for the business model, is it? What do they gain from forcing someone to upgrade or change OS? Here we have a dedicated group who will diligently research and use any method necessary to keep Win 7 running alongside a working Steam install, because why move when there's no need? What's their end game? Is it no game at all?
i have 2 pcs that is simply too old to run anything newer than windows 8. in order to keep them useful, i need to solve whatever issues i find. my windows 8.1 pc is new enough to upgrade to windows 10 however but, i will not do so as long as it runs star trek online.

Because Win7 users on Steam is marginal now around ~0,1% of users based on survey.

It not a forced thing. They changed to a better compression method.
Even we feel it offending and forceful, it realy isnt. We lived long enough on Win7, basicaly survived till 2025 middle.

PS: Im also not happy that now a constant survivor contest keeping up games on Steam.

Yep, and that's completely understandable. I hate the term end of life, implying that its useful life cycle is over. As long as it plays the games, it's not over. When XP lost support, it effectively bricked that PC for Steam gaming (the one I'd play when visiting back home) and now the same is happening with W7/8 systems. I feel my view is far off from the modern one though.

And a better compression I'm sure will ease the load on the servers, or have *some* savings somewhere. It just hurts the old-style folks like me, it ain't broke 'til they've taken the cord and severed the darned thing.
Thanks for your thoughts!

As I noted Im not happy about it either, but this is how it is now.
I thought the issues with Steam rather be UI and other buggig functions. This Update issue was unexpected and a big hit on us for sure.
Meep 18 Jul @ 8:38am
And the survey is interesting. But if the major update some 10 months ago or so caused 7 to freeze completely when trying to load Steam, who was even getting in to fill out those surveys? That was definitely done with some force lol...

I dont know about Steam freezed on Win7. I know it had issue on Win8. We can circling around exact survey numbers, still Win7 users remain on marginal for Valve. A counted loss on bussiness. Valve was quite "patient" with us, they had the chance to set OS check to Client at some update or the update just simply brick on Win7, but gladly this not hapened.
Im happy that we managed on this old and good OS this long.
Also this compression issue is rather can blamed on Chromium, that older CEF cant handle it.
