but newer games will need a much stronger cpu
older i5/i7 (2nd-7th gen i series) like that are quad core, i7 adds ht

newer cpus have 6-8 or more cores and are so much better core performance
and more performance per clock with higher clocks

your board does have a pci-e x16 3.0 slot, which will be fine for the 3060
but the gpu can use 12g of vram, with only 16g of system ram, it will work, but wont be able to use all of its vram if it needed to

black screen may be psu, or display problems too

it doesn't give out anything right now, everything is fine as long as the rx 580 is on the system.

I’d imagine your cpu is working full pelt with an rx580? A 3060 will drag it to it knees, I would think. A gtx1070/rtx2060 is a decent enough upgrade from an RX580 with your cpu, imo. I went from RX480 to gtx1070 and was pretty pleased.

I'm not someone who thinks you absolutely need a specific level of CPU performance at a minimum to make a certain level of GPU performance worthwhile, but it can reach a point where the idea behind that becomes more true because you're going to be losing access to most of that performance if the CPU is too slow. Platforms over 10 years old, let alone 15, are at that point in my mind.

I suggest a new motherboard, cpu & memory.

Oh and replaced my i7-3770k gaming cpu about 6 yeats ago. Is is a little more powerful with a decent overclock.
It was getting painfull to game, then. It must be a stutterfest now.

It'll be bottlenecked by your CPU. Get something like a GTX 1070.

Friends, as long as there is an opportunity to buy 3060 at the best price, it's a sin not to use it.
