Windows 10 and 11 both support Microsoft DX12 and older versions of DIrectX. Not all games use DX12 however. Which game are you talking about?

If you're looking at the DX version and not the feature level, that might be what's confusing, not all GPUs have proper support for DX12 because their feature level is older than what's required

Just because the OS supports DirectX 12/12 Ultimate. Doesn't mean that the hardware will support it too. it depends on your GPU
If you are using a GTX 760 (DX11_0) and trying to launch a game that requires DirectX FL 12_1 for example then the game won't even attempt to launch

^this

gpu can limit dxlevel even when windows supports dx12
if using a gtx 260 or something older, it may be limited to dx10, even if the os and the rest support dx12

newer igpus can support dx12, but 12 has different versions too 12.0, 12.1 ,12.2

People who don't understand minimum requirements. What are your PC specs? I'm guessing fairly old. At any rate I've seen this come up a number of times and at the end of the day after we get the system specs on the board... the GPU doesn't support the directX level needed by the game.

And the fix for that is get out your wallet, and buy a newer/modern GPU. Money can solve a lot of problems.
