I'm not looking forward to it. I feel like every new version of Windows takes away more control from the user and incorporating more bloatware. One thing I like about newer versions of Windows though is how easy they are getting up and running. With Windows 11, you can download almost up-to-date version of Windows from MS website, install about 3 updates and you are up-to-date and good to go. When reinstalling Windows 7, you always had to go through a lengthy process of installing all the updates.

I want to like Linux, but it gives me more headache than Windows does (bugs, some games are hard to run, hardware issues - for some reason my USB 3 flash drives are running too slow and overheat to the point where they are burning hot to the touch, only USB 2 ports work normally, on Windows my USB 3 ports work as they should. Years later multiple distro versions and the USB issue still persists).

I've been on linux for the last 12 years, full time. I got windows 8 on another drive in case I have to configure some hardware (like fanatec stuff, or wacom cintiq calibration) etc

windows isa COMPLETE non issue for me.

im not even on windows 11 yet. there's no reason in my eyes to change something that aint broke. haven't updated windows ether since like 2021. i use WinaeroTweaker and turned off all that update BS. Until i'm forced to update ether by steam,web browser or games/programs i'm sticking with windows 10. So i couldn't care less if they come out with windows 12 or 20 billion lol.

also honestly with steam OS becoming a thing pretty soon i may end up switching to that if it offers the amount of support windows does but without any of the stupid bloat i have to remove and edit everytime i reinstall my OS. i use the windows debloat master to make windows 10 insanely light for gaming

11 isn't that good. Missing stuff, extra spyware, introduction of copilot, settings more hidden, more buggy. 12 might be worse. 10 was pretty good.

For gaming win10, for gaming nearest future steam deck 2, I hope valve do not skip the second version.

I imagine I will install it, use it and it will be fine like previous installations, but the forums will be full of people claiming it's the devils work while other will defend it like it was brought to us from the heavens.

If it plays my games it's good, if not it's bad, that's all I'll really care about from personal use.

Steam OS is getting good at running most games now I'm not opposed to moving to that if I view it as the better option.

I've found Win11 to be fine, fresh install you have to remove a bit of bumf but no more than when you buy a new phone.

They just need to bring out a debloated windows for gamers with all spyware features switched off.

I'm still getting my drives in order so I can move over to Linux. I think with the advances in proton and most other aspects of Linux, with the right distro or just how you customize it, you can pretty much get it to do anything

The only thing I dread about Linux is making the switch, but its always painless. Just a few hours of setup or so for a few days.

I'm retired IT. Mobile networks, supermarket operations, pharmaceutical manufacturing, auto manufacture, egovernment. I tried 11 and went back to 10. Even that has too much bloatware and unwanted features. And not enough system management features. I waste so much time trying to find out how to fix it and make it suitable for my needs.

I just want a professional level o/s, I don't want news, bing, onedrive etc. I want my old apps to work identically on my new pc's e.g. OneNote. I don't want to reinstall everything.etc But that's what i'll be forced to accept.

And as for M$ providing support - what support?

Thats not really a good indicator. There is no reference to suggest seasonal updates would mean no new OS announcement/release.

I dipped when I saw how crappy windows 11 was.

Windows was getting work and in many ways less stable than it had been and Linux was quickly having its issues fixed mainly game compatibility.

Been full time Linux on my gaming rig since feb 2022 and its been MUCH better than Windows.

Well they intend to fix win11 as they did a large patch this month including the start menu.
