PC Monitor Loses Signal but I can still hear my friends on discord.
Hello Everyone,

Well I have been fighting this for over 7/8 months and it is something that I never experienced until one day it just started.

I have a Rtx 3070ti, 850wpsu, i7 11700KF, 32gbRAM, Windows 11, ASRock Z590-C/ac.
It is a pre-build pc, so I honestly dont really know what is going on inside of it or how well build it was. CyberPower PC. It is a 4 yearish PC but I barely used it for 2 years. When I got it I used to live Stream COD warzone on ultra for 8/9 hours with no problem.

So it all started one day and it is a very random occasion, sometimes once a day, sometimes 7 times in 10minutes. First of all my event viewer was telling me it was the Hyper-V-Hypervisor (Event 167) and OMG I went on the biggest rabbit hole of how to fix that, because everytime I would lose signal I would get the same Event over and over and over. It also 100% started only when playing games but developed to sometimes be at random moments like when I would switch something from my main monitor to my second one.

Things that I have done that I remember ( because i have followed like 20 different tutorials online)

- Disabled HyperThreading on my BIOS ( stopped with the HyperV Event Error but the screen still loses signal)
- Disabled/Enabled a bunch of Intel Visualization setting on my BIOS ( Basically ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it all up where I would get the HyperV threading right after I put my password to open the Windows)
- Done the core isolation thingy on your windows security ( did nothing )
- Used one monitor only ( still happened )
- Tried different ports in my GPU
- Tried different HDMI Cables
- Cleaned the RAM with a eraser and brush, Cleaned and dusted all the entrances to my pc case and the fans. ( Even though it was far from being really dirty )
- Factory Reset my Windows deleting all in it ( It was extremely hard because my windows was shutting down every 10 sec when I decided to do that, BUT the computer worked FINE after this for like a week, with games, I live streamed Cyberpunk on Ultra ( dual monitor ) for like 45 minutes.) Then one day it came back, and now it is back again.
- I have the latest updated driver for literally everything on my computer. BIOS, GPU, WIndows Drivers
- Moved my RAM to different slots ( same time of the Windows reset )
- Re-attached my GPU ( same time of the Windows reset)
- I have ran all the /scannow /DISM and it all shows no problems.
- I have ran a stress test on my GPU and CPU.
- I have also ran a stress test( or just a test idk if it was a stress test) on my RAMs and it said no problems.
- I have changed things in my regedit ( before the reset, it didnt work, something with "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System|CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers" and "TdrDelay"
-I have changed the thermal paste about 2.5 years ago ( but didnt use the pc after, and recently got back to it)
- I have confirmed that my Power Cord and my HDMI cables are properly plugged in.
- I have checked my computers temperature wont go past 81C ( and sometimes it happens even when it is on YT like 45C)
- Reinstalled my GPU drivers through the NVIDIA App multiple times.
- Only using my main MSI Gaming monitor. ( Still happened )
- DDU to clean reinstall my GPU

Things I havent done but I saw online:

- Changed my PSU ( lots of people said they changed it and it didnt work, like 85% of people)
- Changed my Motherboard Battery???

There are definitely other things I have done but I honestly don't even remember.
Very long post, but I am tired of breaking my head with 2/3 year old posts that leads to 20 different "Fixes" that dont fix anything.

I appreciate your time reading it,
I hope we can fix this and maybe help some people online, seems like there are a looot of people with the same problem.

Let's start small and cheap. Try a new HMDI or DP from Display to GPU and see how that does.

CMOS battery juat holds the BIOS settings and time/date when the power is fully off. And on a Motherboard that new, they are deigned to not POST at all when the cmos battery needs replacement

what exactly happens

black screen? monitor power light change? does the monitor display no signal?
I have just ordered a DP cable because a friend just told me to. But wont be here until Tuesday.

Imagine you unplug your HDMI cable from your tv for example, you get a black screen that most likely will say "No Signal" Thats exactly what I get in both of my monitors at the same time. It is black, but it is not BSOD.

It is like it disconnects from the hdmi?
As long it's not black screen crash, it probably ports or cable ,
Yea that is basically what happens with a loose or failing cable.

I buy braided cables, they are much better overall. Same for my USB cables like for my headset and USB data/charging cables
I will comment on here if it is fixed once I get the cable. But honestly it is hard to tell I feel like most of these "fixes" i did before worked for 1/2/3 days then it happened again.

But people online point to ANY CABLE, like PSU cables, GPU cables, HDMI cables. It is so hard to really know and I cant keep buying cables every 2 days.

But lets hope the DP cable fixes it.
Well unless you have a failing GPU.

What about your Display; are you using a high refresh Monitpr? Some Monitors have been know to have an OC and this does not always work 100%bor could become unstable over time
it is a MSI Optix G24 Series - 144hz 1ms. My friend also told me that apparently this monitor only runs 120hz with HDMI(whats recommended) and I was running on 144hz. So I am running at 60hz now. Problem still persists, but now it is different.

Whenever the screen goes NO SIGNAL I hear a "windows asking for permission sound' and when I press the button to hard reset I hear the same sound again. The sound when they ask for ADM permission. I feel like I fix one thing, I get another.

If it was gpu, wether ita cables or whatnot your pc will froze then no signal

If just no output but you have input big chance is your display cable, or ports something always prohibited your monitor and gpu doing handshake
Which usually underspec cable
Get a DP male to male Cable capable of at least 1.4 version spec.

PC + high refresh monitor = always use DisplayPort. Usually modern GPUs have 1x HDMI and 3x DP

Could also be a failing HDMI port on GPU which I've seen countless times over the years.

So couple hours ago ( I switched my second monitor to a TV) and the TV I connected to the first HDMI port on my GPU. My main monitor the MSI I inserted in the second port with an DP Adapter.

Well my monitor was locked on 60hz ( Even though it really does not feel like 60hz(and we all KNOW the difference from 144hz to 60hz RIGHT AWAY), but if it was working I was happy with it). There was a 75hz option but would make my screen go square and zoomed in.

So I played BF1 on ultra, and I put some livestream on my TV, had wallpaper engine going too.
Played BF1 for a couple hours ( no problems ) then I downloaded BF4 because everytime I tried to open BF4 for some reason the error would occur right away. Well it didnt. I played for like 30min? Then I turned my pc off.

Came back now and decided to put my Second Monitor on (it has an MINI HDMI) it is a portable monitor that I used mostly for my PS5, perfect for my setup now. Connected everything then tried to log in to BF4 and Once I pressed play on a map, screen goes no signal, instantly. AND NOW THERE IS THE "ADM PERMISSION" sound in the back.

So I changed to the TV set up again. But now the error persists. I tried opening BF1 ( because it was working ) didnt work. The error happened like 6 times in a row. The moment BF4/Bf1 goes full screen, the screen goes black and I hear the admin sound.

Would that not turn off only ONE monitor?
I feel like I have switched ports already. Unless all of them are cooked.

I got a 1.4, it is male-to-male

Ok so you said HDMI... but you switched ports... hmm so then YOU ARE using DP already ?

How many Displays are hooked up to your RTX 3070? And which ports and refresh rates?

You sure each Display is set to the natuve screen res and refresh rate?

Last time I I messed with Win11 even on 24H2 is was pure garbage. And it kept auto changing my 1440p monitors to 2160p (4K) even though that's not their native screen res and no I never had DSR enabled
