Upgrade recomendation
Hello everyone. I would like to upgrade my pc. Do you all think I can get away with just a gpu upgrade? If so what would you recommend upgrading to? I would like to stay around $1000 range. Thank you in advance.

My current setup
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10850K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (8 GB)
System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

are you cpu or gpu limited?

if you disable all forms of vsync do you get higher fps?
if the gpu is not at 90%+ load the cpu or something is limiting it

if you need to lower visual settings and res to get higher fps, then the gpu is limiting it

Thank you for the quick reply. vsync does not seem to make a difference. GPU is around 98%. Lowering graphic settings gives me more frames and smoother game play. So I am guessing GPU limited.

if you dont mind buying used or last gen stuff
then
Ryzen 7 5800X3D/5700X3D
and you can probably reuse your 32GB RAM sticks
you can probably get a new or used B550/X570 mobo fairly cheap
then spend the rest on a rtx 5070 though I would personally wait for 5070Super hopefully with 16gb vram or maybe try to find a cheap used 4080

Your CPU is fine, plenty fast enough for a snappy RTX 5070TI.

Nvidia 5070, 5070 ti supers with much more vram should be releasing in the next 6 months. 12 gb vram will probably become an issue before the gpu becomes obsolete. 5070 super should have at least 18 gb vram and be slightly faster.
