Need guides to not mess up my next build
I recently had my CPU die on a AsRock Mobo… some of you might know from my earlier post, now I got new stuffs coming to build a stable PC without failure and I would love to get some advice and guide how to not mess it up again. Though I still don’t know what caused the CPU to just fail, I returned it to the retail and they now will replace it with a new one, but I decided to not use the new one and just go Intel and my new specs is:

Mobo:ASUS TUF Gaming B760-Plus wifi D4
CPU: intel i5 12600kf
PSU: EVGA GQ 1000w gold
Ram: Corsair vengeance 32gb ddr4 3200mhz cl16
GPU: Rx 9060 xt Prime 16gb
Cooler: DeepCool AK500 WH

I got same WD black 500gb for boot/windows drive, but I am very worried that this sssd might have caused a issue so I’m not sure about using same ssd for this build…

What should I pay attention to not cause a failure on this one too?

to be honest you probably just got a bad chip on the last cpu, it can happen though rare.
unless of course you were messing with voltages.
Just build it the same way, or go and watch someone like linus tech tips build one if you are unsure.

Another question is, did the motherboard die aswel or just the cpu?

Also, i don't know what generation your old cpu was. But are you buying an entire new computer? cause you can reuse, ram, psu, cooler, gpu and most likely the motherboard.

then lastly, is the i5 12600kf you're buying cheaper then the regular i5 12600? Because that motherboard wont allow overclocking (you need a z series motherboard for that) And the entire point of the "K" versions of intel cpus is that they are meant for overclocking.

Most likely your AsRock mobo simply burned down the CPU with their garbage default BIOS settings. AsRock AM5 socket mobos are notorious of doing this and I would avoid them at all cost.

If you want decent AM5 build then try MSI B850 Tomahawk, something like this:

Yes, that CPU was the cheapest I could get, and don’t need overclocking since I plan to use Intel Turbo

My last build was AsRock B650 steel Legend and a ryzen 9 7900x, the Mobo, ram and everything else worked while the cpu didn’t boot, the retail also tested it and concluded that cpu was gone, and they ordered a new one for me. I have rest of things from my last build but since idk what caused the failure so I decided to change everything on new building.

I only have a few reasons to think of when my first cpu died:

1. It was the AsRock Mobo
2. Having Core performance boost(CPB) disabled
3. Might be caused by Gen 3 pcie since my gpu was a old 1660 super from my old pc… idk if it can cause it,
And might have been PSU or ssd again idk I’m very new to pc building

I happen to have a MAG B650 tomahawk, is that good?

Yep, this works fine too if you update the BIOS to latest version.

Great then, I will just build the CPU I’m getting from retail on it and try to sell it or give it to my nephew.

I dont believe a default settings could kill stuff, yes every Mobo have different AI tweak, but last week i tried manually setting all mambo jambo using youtube obviously, then check temps and performance , and comparing with all auto , same temp and same performance bump

You just unlucky , it happens.
RMA and moving on

get ddr5 ram and more storage

750w enough for your build 1000w is overkill.

i have same cpu 32gb ddr5 2tb storage. and 7800xt

1000watt is too much. go with 750watt and get 1tb SSD as MINUMUM
you can add another later if you want which what i did

there is second m2 slot on those motherboards.

Asrock admitted to it. Of course only after backlash and people started connecting the dots. Either way, they've harmed their brand...

Guess I have to get a DDR5 mobo anyway, right now when removing gpu, I messed up and broke the PCIe 16 holder button, those plastic holders which you press to remove gpu lol, it was so annoyingly fragile piece of plastic...

it was not fully default as i think it may have been caused by me disabling CPB
