Legion Go S – No LEDs or Trackpad After SteamOS
I installed SteamOS on my Lenovo Legion Go (Windows version), and now the glowing rings around the sticks don't work, nor does the trackpad. Can I fix this?

I have the same issue. I'm guessing you bought the windows version and didn't even bother booting Windows? Just went straight for Steam Os, right? Well apparently there's a firmware update that needs windows to work on the white model.
This is the response I received when I made a ticket on their support site :

"Thank you for reaching out to the Lenovo Community!

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with the LED lights and trackpad on your Legion Go S after installing Steam OS. This could indeed be related to firmware compatibility, as certain hardware features may require specific firmware updates that are typically provided through the original operating system.

To address this issue without reinstalling Windows, you can try the following steps:

Check for Firmware Updates via Steam OS: Some firmware updates might be accessible through Steam OS. Check the system settings or the Steam OS support forums for any available updates.

Use a Bootable USB Drive: Create a bootable USB drive with Windows and boot from it temporarily. This will allow you to access Lenovo Vantage or the Lenovo Support website to check for and install any necessary firmware updates. You can find instructions on creating a bootable USB drive here.

Lenovo Vantage App: If you can temporarily boot into Windows, use the Lenovo Vantage App to check for system updates, including firmware.

I hope this helps! If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to ask.

Best regards, Hassen"

I haven't been able to test it out yet since I'm waiting on amazon to deliver a USB adapter I need for above to work. But le me know if you find the issue fixed after following support guide.

Thank you very much for the detailed response. I really didn’t bother launching Windows, as I don’t see any point in it, and instead installed SteamOS right away.

Today I’ll continue experimenting and also going to replace the internal SSD.
I tried to enter safe mode windows though usb and the menu doesn't even show up. You managed to get this working?

Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately it's another standard useless customer service message. I tried this method it seems not helping at all. This support guy is just copy and pasting. There is even no Vantage app in this machine, things needs to be updated on the Legion app under windows.

Anyway, I updated all the drivers and BIOS from official source and swap the SSD between Steam OS and Windows, I can confirm it's not fixing the issue.

After some more Google there is a Beta track pad firmware (in Chinese Lenovo site) which seems fixing the white model track pad issue for Steam OS.

Thank you. Does Huesync also control the power button LED?

the same way you normally wouild
format a usb stick fat32, unzip the bios update stuff to it
boot to bios, use bios options to update bios, find bios file on the usb stick and update from it
Thanks, but which of the 2 bios update I have to use?

the one that just the bios update file
not the bios update tool for windows

If you flash the official Steam OS, the BIOS update can be performed automatically (like system update)

this may work, or it did for me. try resetting the controller by holding the QuickAccess + Menu + RB for 4 seconds. The controllers should reset and the lcds should come on. Then you can customize in steam OS without any installs.

**note** System Settings: Steam Client Update Channel >> Steam Deck Beta
OS Codename: holo
OS Version: 3.7.14
I did restart the system after I saw the leds come back, and then there was system update, dunno if all that is related or not. but try it out, should work.
