Stress testing pc
I’m wondering if I should run a stress test on my new build PC? Even if I’m using default Bios settings with only XMP enabled?I just build this:

Intel i5 12600kf
ASUS TUF B760-Plus gaming wifi D4
Corsair vengeance 3200mhz cl 16

I’m using Intel XTU for the testing, there is 3 options: CPU, CPU with AVX, CPU with AVX2, which one should I use? Is 1 hour enough?

Why defaults? Always a good idea to try and undervolt the CPU at least a little bit. Never leave those voltage options on auto on a custom build.

Yes of course needs to stress test; for stability assurance purposes. Best to do that with Stress Test Tools and Benchmarks, rather then actual Games.

be sure to update bios

I can’t do undervolt as I am novice/noob

Yea I did it the first thing after booting the pc

Yes, It's a good idea to stress test your PC to check for:
- stability (xmp is not always stable if you are unlucky with silicon lottery)
- performance and if it matches general benchmarks
- temperatures and if cooling is properly installed.

xmp should work with 2 dimms
unless the cpu has a damaged imc or board dose not support ram multiplier

It usually works fine and especially at lower speeds but it’s overclocking and it’s not guaranteed to work or to be 100% stable for everybody at all times. It’s called XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) or EXPO (Extended Profile for Overclocking) for a reason.

And some profiles, like for 8000MT/s or faster, memory are very challenging to make it work stable and to pass every stress test.

amd and intel cpus guarantee ram speeds upto the cpus spec with 4 dimms
higher speed is overclocking, but almost always works with 2 dimms at the rams xmp profile

Well if you lower the volts, you might want to check for stability, haha. When you game you are stress testing. If you crash you know you have problems, haha. Or bad performance. Why stress you stuff unnecessary.

12th gen isnt flawed like 13-14th gen

stock voltage will be fine on it

undervolting is like overclocking
lower voltage = less stable and less heat

I ran 1 hour of CPU stress test on XTU software and it it didn’t happen anything, no thermal throttle, highest temperature was 70c at 100% load

also test with prime95 small fft
if you want to add gpu load use gpuz render test (click the [?] under amd/nvidia/intel logo)

I’m kind of happy with the temps, I get like as highest as 65-67 degrees running CPU heavy games like CS, using an DeepCool AK500 WH cooler

I would like to ask if these Idle values good?

XMP and EXPO is on a spectrum and while 6000MT/s is close to guaranteed, a 8000MT/s RAM kit may have less than 50% chance to pass every stress test. The kit may still work but not necessary on expo and may need manual tweaking and lower frequency for the memory controller to handle. There is some silicon lottery here.
