running them without an antenna connected can kill its wifi signal amplifier


does the router support 2.4/5ghz? whatever the main router is using

did you try resetting the router/ap to defaults?
hold reset button for 30sec

or 30/30/30
press and hold reset wait 30
while holding reset, unplug power for 30sec
while still holding reset, plug in power, and wait another 30sec
now release the resst button

with most firmware that will force factory reset

then you can log into it from its ip or 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
and use its default user/pass or whats printed on its label or look up how to log into it from the mfg site

If it does not support WPA 3.x then it's basically worthless to even attempt to use.

Make sure you configure all of that, the advanced details of the router wifi

WPA2 w/ AES is still widely used and more than enough most of the time, especially for home networks..

routers does offer firmware updates. maybe your does too.

This is the problem. Realize that different hardware are meant for different use cases. You can't use a graphics card as a printer and vice vera. Use hardware for what they were designed.

Post the make and model numbers of the two devices so people know what hardware you have and can review the manuals.

Also try to be more specific in your details; saying “I made a configuration change and it still didn’t work” doesn’t provide people with any usable information to help you. What specific settings did you change and what did you change them from and to.

you need to be able to log into the router to update its firmware

unless its set to do that automatically, in that case unplugging the router while its updating would brick it

either using its default optons, or by flashing it with 3rd party firmware, ex tomato, dd-wrt or openwrt
which have repeat and options to create an ap from existing wifi connection

u are right, i will update the router one, but not for the access point, since i coudnt access it.

Hey. I have a WiFi 6 in ac mode, its faster and my wireless devices never reach the speed of wifi6. Besides it should support more users in ac shouldn't it

Why AC?

For the faster speed + more devices, should be AX mode

Easier on the cpu. And my wireless devices never achieve great speed. I have a mostly wired network. I have everything built for speed, and yes no take backs under this system. Its nice. 6ms ping.

I could make it 4 or 5ms but I put heavy logging. Wireless devices, phone, echo for, tablet, ect. Never pass 100mbits. Hence ac. I even have IP camera that use 2.4ghz due to reliable and distance

If your ISP uses MoCA through Coax cable you could always get a MoCA Ethernet adapter and hardline it to the router instead of trying to use the router as a repeater. Repeaters are terrible.

And did you connect the ethernet cable to the WAN port or the LAN port of the router?

I got fiber. I use a Linux os (ipfire) as a home built router. I got plenty of bandwidth. I got aimesh asus rt WiFi 6 access point 2x. I got full coverage. All I have to do is wait for a criminal idiot to enter my network. Yes I have one. His name was Gregg until he legally changed it. This screams guilty right their.
