Yea 8th Gen i7 or later should have at least 240mm if using an AIO.
Why not just get a different Case that allows a bit more room and cooling options; such as more case fan placements; or larger ones; like 140-200mm case fans for example and room for AIO w/ 280mm RAD
For reference the case is ATHENA M2 ELITE from gamdias, it ain't that bad but I'm no expert.
Do you have any recoomendations for a good case? I don't care about rgb much
BeQuiet
Corsair
Cooler Master
all have some good choices; various layouts, pricing ranges, sizes...
I guess I'll try to get that cooler, and if it doesn't stick I'll refund it through amazon...
The noctua website says I should be fine, I hoped to hear from someone that has the same/similar config
Like this for example:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DQFYBSD6
Not like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNDTJVPL
It's the ones with the little heat-pipe pointed ends you have to watch out for; those can easily add 5mm or more and then you can't close the side panel on some Cases.
The 160mm height cooler fits perfectly well in this case, which has a max tolerance of 165mm for cpu coolers.
The Noctua DH-15S is a very nice product, the improvements on the low-mid ranges are substantial. however, under stress the 12700k will reach 100° anyways, so even the mightiest of coolers won't fix the issue.
The only fix is to undervolt the cpu, but if you have a crappy motherboard (such as Gigabyte B760 Gaming X in this case) you won't be able to, as for whatever reason undervolting is made impossible.
so, best solutions are switching case, or swapping the mobo...
turn off those fancy PBO and CPB , dont know for intel tho
What are PBO and CPB?
Could make your CPU hotter , on me its 10° hotter but will achieved 4.5ghz
Some people says why did you crippled your CPU
Some people says i dont need those boost
Oh on intel it says intel turbo boost cmiiw
