5080 might be hard to hit the budget though so a 5070ti would give you more options.

All brands are basically fine, but don’t overpay too much above MSRP. 5070ti is £729 and 5080 is £949, going about 10% above MSRP is fine but some cards get silly and are 30% higher.

Just for a general idea of where the different GPUs line up next to each other. (unfortunately, they moved on from their old chart, which went back to the 580 or a generation before. But all of these are better than the 580 at this point. And it looks like they haven't put the 9060 on there yet, but that's below your budget anyway.)

Almost every brand has a "basic", "overclocked", and "deluxe overclocked" version of each of the main GPUs, with increasing prices. You just need to look at UK-local seller websites to see what your prices are.

Unless you can stumble accross a 4090 cheap your best option is either a 5070 ti around £750 or push to the 5080 for your full £1000 budget, there are a bunch of options around £950 to £100 open to you in the UK, I think nvidia has 5080 founders in stock too which might be a bit cheaper, but, their coolers are a bit lacking this generation.

If your gpu is a rx580, what is the rest of your system like, is that getting close to needing a upgrade also?
Could you be better off dropping a tier on gpu and doing a full system upgrade instead?

The brand really has no impact on performance at the moment, the cards, are very locked down from nvidia, with power limits, so really cheapest model is the best option unless you have a specific want or need for an added feature (bigger coolers tend to be quieter etc).

Also, updated 'super' variants of the 5070 to and 5080 are expected 'soon' which will come with a memory bump and a bit higher power limit (30w I think I read).
When 'soon' is, could be anything from now to October, but they have all but been confirmed at this point to exist and coming, so it might be worth waiting.

Where they will show up price wise is more questionable, id expect them to go a bit higher (£100 maybe).

If waiting for a rumour is worth it to you, only you can say, but, figured it was worth pointing out.

What are the rest of your systems specs?
If it’s from around the same timeframe of the RX580 (eg 2017 - 2018) that could be a fairly significant limiting factor for a current gen GPU in that price range.

You can install CPUz and run its validator and then post the link to the result so people can see the specs to help give you more wholistic advice

The recommendation fully relies on the rest of your system specs (because bottlenecks with old CPUs and RAM are a thing) and the games you play/want to play at what settings.

Idk I expect Nvidia will bump the 5080 Super quite a bit because of the VRAM. And AMD aren’t bothering it seems.

Which motherboard do you have? Probably easier to run the CPUz validator.

The 2700X is likely going to be a bottleneck for current gen GPUs. Also, depending on the motherboard you might be limited by your PCIe generation.

If your motherboard wouldn't be a limitation you could likely do a BIOS update and upgrade your CPU to a 5700X3D along with your GPU and that would be a significant upgrade.

Also, as an FYI, Simulators like MS FlightSim tend to be very CPU heavy; and the 2700X is starting to be near the bottom-end of, or below the minimum CPU requirement for new games. For example, Indiana Jones has a minimum CPU requirement of the Ryzen 5 3600 so you'd still have issues running that even if you upgraded just your GPU.

EDIT: You can find the 5700X3D for around $250-$265 currently, so it'd still be within reason of your $1000 budget to not stretch your GPU to a higher model and instead get a lower tier down GPU along with the CPU upgrade as it will be a much better overall upgrade. I'd also tend to lean toward what Monk mentioned earlier and wait to see how the "Super" refresh lands on pricing/performance before buying a GPU right this second.

Even if you don't end up buying a Super model, if Nvidia slots them. in at the same/similar (or lower) price point as the non-Super variants like they did with the last gen, you'll end up seeing discounts on the non-Super models as retailers try to sell through their unsold stock. May or may not happen but probably worth waiting to see how they shake out.

You'll probably want yo start thinking about a cpu upgrade also tbh.

A fairly cheap option would be a 5700x or 5800x available at £122 and £127 on amazon right now if look for a used x3d version for around £170-200, cex has a 5700x3d for £200 with a 1 year warranty.

I do recommend to divert some of the money into a CPU upgrade as any kind of high end GPU will be bottlenecked by your CPU.

Yeah, you'd be much better served with a ~500 GPU and some other upgrades, instead of shoving a 1000 GPU into that system.

(I suspect your power supply would also be an issue with a ~1000 GPU)
