CS2 on Linux?
Hey all, I am have been using linux on and off for about 7 years, and my latest and greatest laptop I bought came with Windows 11 and I haven't bothered changing back to Linux because I needed to do some quick work with adobe applications, now that I have more time for gaming, especially CS2 and Dota2, or even Deadlock, how well does CS2 or anything on the Source 2 engine for that matter perform on Linux?

I've heard pretty bad things about this topic so far, lower fps, valve not caring and so on. Since I loathe Windows 11 and Microsoft with every hating bone in my body, I've been looking forward to coming back to linux but wanna make sure everything is gonna work properly first.

Some games don't work on Linux, but only because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ developers like Rockstar and Epic deliberately block it for no good reason.

There's really no excuse at this point.

Actually there is a good reason, they use kernel level anti-cheats which don't as intended on Linux without patches to make it work properly, because if they don't then the anti-cheat does literally nothing as it lacks kernel level permissions on Linux, it runs as an unprivileged userspace so it can't see what might be running in the background.

Since Linux is less than 5% users worldwide for all desktop operating systems in general, which translates to much much lower numbers relating to their specific game(s), there's just no reason for them to have to spend money paying people to patch their anti-cheat so it works with Linux operating systems.

Some of them just choose to be ♥♥♥♥♥ about it like Epic.

Valve Games shouldn't be an issue on Linux (as they are approved for SteamOS, which is Linux)

DOTA2 works on WinOS, Linux, SteamOS and MacOSX and later.
