RTX or AMD RX?
I recently started looking for new parts for my computer, and currently (with my somewhat limited budget) I picked up a new CPU. A Ryzen 5 5500. Well, I had decided to save up for a new console after so many years, but I thought better of it and decided building a new computer would be the ideal choice! But the part that gives me the biggest headache when it comes to PC hardware... the GPUs. There are countless models, some bad and some good. Until I researched and looked at AMD's RX vs. Nvidia's RTX, I was undecided about which model to choose to pair with this CPU. In the country where I live, the price of some easily exceeds the amount of money I have to buy.

And I was eyeing the AMD RX 6600 and RX 7600. From Nvidia (I actually use a GTX 1650), I was checking out the RTX 3060 and 4060. They all seem like very good value upgrades, but I'm not sure which one to choose. AMD drivers are said to be quite problematic, even with the 7600, though they're cheaper models. Nvidia's drivers are expensive, and many don't seem to have any issues with updates or drivers. Anyway, I truly appreciate everyone's help, your suggestions are very welcome! Please tell me if AMD GPUs are as problematic as many say! :boomer::boomer:

Here's my new PC:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5500
MB: Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite
RAM: 16GB RAM Kingston FuryBeast
SSD: Kingston 500GB NVMe NVMe SSD + 480GB SATA SSD Patriot Burst Elite
PSU: MSI Mag A650BN 650W 80 Plus Bronze
Current GPU: GTX 1650 MSI D6 Ventus XS OCv3

make sure to get a gpu with at least 12GB VRAM
like 3060 12GB
well what country do you live in and how much do you have to spend?

can't really advise anything until i know that.

also are you willing to go used or do you want brand new?

Well, I live in Brazil, and due to high taxes and the fact that many GPUs are imported, they can be quite expensive. One example is the RTX 3060, which, at the moment, converting from Brazilian real to US dollar, would be $359.53. The RX 6600 model from ASrock would be around $287.76. The RTX 4060 from MSI is around $467.62, and the RX 7600 model from Gigabyte is around $341.72.

Well, I think I'd honestly go for a new one, because I don't know the actual condition of a used card... for example, if it was mined before being sold. My budget would be $504.67.
out of what is listed the 4060 is the best for over all performance....
I would recommend whichever is the cheapest.

if you decide on the rtx 3060 look at the brand and model on tech power up

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-3060-12-gb.c3682

always go with the fastest memory bandwidth and if you scroll down you can see the difference between cards and manufacturer for a specific GPU

the reason i say that is some have more bandwidth then other cards

(BOOST CLOCK)

example my evga XC card lists it at 360 gig a second (shown also in GPUZ )

others are lower (for boost clock )

i always use this site before pulling the trigger on GPU ..the reason i say RTX 3060 of course is 12 gig of V ram ,, the 4060 if you ask me is gimped by 8 gig of v ram later on as well as other new Nvidia cards

Nvidia needs that on all their cards these days if you ask me ..all their cards should be 12 gig or 16 gig cards ..i haven't bought any AMD cards recently so i cant say how well they perform .. again i stick to Nvidia and Intel for all my builds

but yes look at the memory bandwidth and speed .... spend what you can and get the best for your buck card
