AMD GPU fans constantly running
i have a 9070xt and whatever game i play they always run, granted i max out all the settings but i also have a liquid cooler so im confused why my fans have to run so heavily. its also equally confusing when i look at the graph and my gpu temp never succeeds 50 degrees and often times are just 30 yet my gpu fans keep running on high and somehow someway my system produces a lot of heat regardless.

im new to AMD so i could be a little naive on some of the troubleshootings here. any advice would be greatly appreciated! :majinbuu:

Because most GPUs by default run silent until around 60*C (140*F)
So juts loading ANY game is going to make the GPU jump up in heat quickly.
You would need to use a 3rd party app and change the fan curve so the fans run at least a low level RPM at a lower temp and ramp up gradually so the GPU can stay cooler at all times.

Setting a max FPS limit helps as well; along with things such as VSync + FreeSync
You can set a custom fan curve in the Radeon software.

Ok well that's good. Been a while since I used it.
God I wish I could travel time... I would help people for free and they would never know wtf happened... :sadisthappy:

A single GPU temp can be misleading. Check with HWiNFO64 if other GPU temps are OK. GPU junction, hotspot, memory. Some can let you check GPU VRM as well.
If fans spin so fast you can hear them while the GPU shows only 30-50C degrees it may indicate some cooling problem.

Except here’s the weird part, my fans work harder if I have a fps limiter on.
Well again it's all based on the fan curve, fan % @ this temp... so look into that. You could be hearing Case and CPU fans too because of the higher temps once a game is running

use gpuz to verify the fans are running or stopped

they should be stopped below 40c, maybe to 50c

if the idle temp is above 50c, then the case has poor airflow, get a better case or better case fans

I have a see through case. I have like 9 fans I believe including the gpu fans which have three plus a liquid cooler.

My idle is 10c which could be lower but I like my browser quick access. And discord

Then you have a faulty temp sensor or the software shows it wrong. You can’t have lower GPU temp than room temperature.

Could be that or could be looking at the wrong thing idk I’m not at my computer right now I’ll look into it and make sure I wasn’t referencing the wrong thing though. Thanks for letting me know to check the sensor though.

turns out my gpu idle is actually 34c i have no clue where i got 10 from. think i got that from my overall board power voltage.

Ok I get that.... now re-READ what I said.

FAN CURVE >>> CHNAGE THOSE
