You can simply use it as an extended screen and put twitch there and play your game on the main screen. Alt+tab should let you switch between the game and twitch. If you play on a controller you won’t even need to alt+tab.
You can also get an old pc, mini pc, raspberry pie or whatever else able to play twitch and connect it to the second monitor and have two independent systems. You can even connect your phone to a monitor of you want. Just need a cable for that.
A simple HDMI smart TV dongle (amazon fire stick, chromecast, apple tv, etc) that is able to install Twitch app is also an option.
set game to borderless fullscreen to make the switch faster. exclusive fullscreen always takes few seconds to release game and even might minimize game
Use the hotkey first...
Hold down WINKEY+P and then click on Extended
Once that is applied; go to NVIDIA Control Panel and set the Display #.
Your GAME Monitor should be #1 which ever you want that to be.
Then ensure to set the native screen res + refresh rate for EACH Display as well.
Then before you load up game, open what you want first it helps.
Like web browser, task manager, maybe discord or something else.... and drag those onto your #2 Display
It's really easy.
Depends on the cables you use. HDMI for example, once Windows detects the monitor on, it will assume its there even if you power it down. DP on the other hand, Windows knows if it's on or off. So, Ideally, you want your second monitor connected using DP and a switch so you can turn it off. That may be a power switch, not just a Standby button. THEN, when the monitor is off Windows will use your primary monitor and when it is on Windows will extend your Desktop to the second monitor and it will work in exactly the way you want.
There is only one minor problem and that is Windows 11 doesn't put the full Taskbar on the second monitor. You need something DisplayFusion to do that (sold on Steam).
Also, when you play games you play in Fullscreen Borderless Window and that allows you to effortlessly move between monitors. Just hit <ESC> and click on the game when you want to go back. In the mean time your game remains visible and active.
I've run two screens for a long time. It's really handy. Oh, and by the way, you can set them to independent refresh rates in the NVIDIA app. I think mine runs at 165fps and 75fps.
in games, you can set it to full screen (not windowed) mode, or look for game settings to 'capture mouse'
imho most games are fine with moving the mouse off screen so you can scroll browser or other things, ex. mixer volume controls without the game losing focus
i have done this for years as im always upgrading something everything 2 years.....my internet PC is a 12100 I3 CPU with a old GTX1070 and a 128gb M.2 drive with a 1 2 and 3TB harddrives for storage.....the whole thing is left over parts with the case being the only bought part in it....I3 came out of a prebuilt that got upgraded to a I5 that was out of a workstation someone threw in dumpster!!! the rest of it is left over gaming parts
Yes there is. The most important thing is to use DP. The second most important is to fully turn the monitor off when you are not using it. I have a power switch on my desk that I can do that with.
if both displays are 1080p60 hdmi or dp are the same result
depending on the game, many you can use alt+enter to change between full screen and windowed mode to capture the mouse
you do not need to turn the 2nd display off
op said he wants both displays on while gaming
