2k isnt a specified res, say 1440p instead

what gpu?

hdmi or hdmi adapter cable will limit to 1204hz
dp 1.4 cable will be able to use 240-260hz

check its osd menu to see what its max refresh rate is set to

i have rtx4070
Have you tried switching HDR off?

I know that my monitor (not the same as yours) limits the refresh rate if I switch HDR on.

I think you can select a lower bit-rate to compensate. In other words 8-bit HDR should be fine.

It can happen if a cable has not enough bandwidth.
Did your cable come with the monitor? If not, then try a new, faster cable.

Nvidia control panel, change resolution tab and make sure it's at 8 bpc and output dynamic range to limited.

It's should work though at 240Hz with 10bit using DSC, could for sure be the cable isn't up for the job.

sounds like a dual mode monitor that will only run 240 in 1080p and 165hz at 1440p......many monitors are like this.....

to all the people talking about HDMI he would not even hit 165 without being on display port already

If it came with your monitor then it should be fast enough. Unless it’s faulty.
I’ve checked the specs and your monitor should be able to do 1440p/240Hz.
Sorry, but I don’t know why you have this problem and what to advise you.

Maybe try different cables and if possible a different PC.
That monitor is very confusing.

If we go to the official specifications page on the website, it very clearly does say it's capable of 240 hz here: https://aoc.com/us/gaming/products/monitors/q27g4zr/specification

But then if we look in the manual here: https://mmd-aoc2.oss-cn-hongkong.aliyuncs.com/Products/Monitors/G%20Line/G4/Q27G4/Q27G4_manual.pdf and go to the resolution specifications on page 26 it says it only supports up to 180 Hz and only over displayport.

I'm not sure why it doesn't work up to 240 hz. Perhaps you need to set it to 180 then create a custom driver profile to set it the last bit to 240 hz.

no

if the monitor and connection and gpu support the res, refresh it will be on the edid list
to get 260hz, oc needs to be enabled on the display osd menu
but if its not even showing 240hz, the cable or port is limiting it

you dont need to make a custom res/refresh in gpu control panel for it

it says it only supports 1440p upto 120hz with hdmi (consoles)
op is using dp, but if its a dp-hdmi cable, then it will be 1440p 120hz max

I know that some cheap HDMI cables showing 4K, 120Hz, HDR capability trick people by not saying it’s not at the same time.

So it’s either 4K60fps or 1080p120fps.

The specs of the monitor seem to be genuine but maybe it’s the same trick?
