Lossless scaling - love or hate it!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCKbt8hBYAo&t=78s

I bought an rtx 3050 6GB + cheap display port kvm.

Both are intended for other machines/setups.

It is useful for this for now.

It is increasing the lifespan of my RTX 3080.

Lossless scaling is not suited for fast paced shooting games though.

Slower/prettier GPU intensive games are a better fit - not Doom!

He seems to have just got back from the dentist.

no such thing as lossless scaling
unless its upscaled with no new info introduced, double pixeling and such

scaling down will lose info since there are fewer pixels to show the available info with

Scaling up/down or whatever - it is about what you can notice while improving performance.

I know it can work very well in some games. When it comes to paced shooters, not so much.

Lossless Scaling is the same of application
https://steamhost.cn/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/

How it well works? depends on your use case.
I wouldn't dare using LS for competitive games but its possible for slower paced single player titles
As long as I can keep enjoying masterpieces that were originally released in 800x600, I don't care too much.

Now get off my lawn with the shiny, shallow super ultra giga HD water reflections and ray traces, damn kids.

How about NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Feel free not to use it.

Yet another to block.

there is an easier way to do that, and its free

just run the game at its intended res in full screen, and the the display upscale it
thats what crt monitors did
use the displays osd menu to pick scale or stretch
scale will letterbox the non native aspect to fill vertical or horizontal (which ever fits first) and add black bars to hold the aspect ratio
or stretch will scale both h+w

or another free fix, is look up the game at wsgf.org
many have an easy fix to run the game in higher res and/or widescreen modes

Lossless Scaling has a very decent frame generation that can be useful for some games or emulators with 60fps cap.

Upscaling is less useful, when almost every game has dlss now. Or when Optiscaler is arguably the best tool for implementing DLSS4 and FSR4 and is free.

No need for it because I only play games that actually work.

LS was the only way i could play Stick of Truth without stutter and judder on my 280hz display. It works with DSR too so i could take a 1080p monitor and 60hz game and run 3840x2160 @ 240fps.
The best utility app. You could even use it to watch movies at 60fps
