If you will often carry it in a bag or rucksack, then probably take smaller one.
Also, Windows has an interface font scaling option, you can make almost all fonts in desktop applications larger. And LInux has it too.
To answer your question: If you're looking for a gaming laptop that also works well for everyday use and entertainment, I'd recommend sticking with the 16-inch model. It's easier to carry in a knapsack, just make sure the bag fits, especially if you're travelling for vacation or business. Personally, I wouldn't go for the 18-inch version. It might be heavier, which could make it inconvenient to carry around, especially to something like a job interview. That said, it could offer better performance when it comes to graphics and screen resolution, which is a plus for gaming and content creation.
But most important things for me are the screen quality, cool system and low noise from the fans.
16 or 18, as long as it fits in a Swissgear pack it's good.
