I don't mind watching that guy's videos from time to time, but I would not take what he says or does too seriously. As with many, many "tech" YouTubers, they are really more like product advertisers. It's like getting tech advice from a sales clerk.

I've been watching jay since he started youtube and honestly he's more for watching when you're bored.

Sure his water cooling vids are flashy but he also makes it look as if you need a billion dollars to water cool which is far from the truth.

The man also keeps putting two GPUs in his rigs like he has a mental illness, SLI is dead!

He even admitted it does nothing but hes an "enthusiast" and thats what they do.

I love Linux for software development, but when I sit down to game, I want to turn my brain off and relax. If I have to Google stuff to get something to work on an OS and stuff just doesn't work out of the box, then that OS can suck it.

You won’t be able to plug and play let’s say five years from now.
why is everyone so stuck on Bazzite

There's a video of someone putting it on a Steam Deck a few months ago and showed it had better performance than the SteamOS did.

People believe it's a good distro for gaming.

Meanwhile, I'm gaming on Mint without issues.

thats what they said 10 years ago
When Win10 fails, then Win11 fails, Linux for the save always.

First off people are googling windows issues all the time. Period. Its stupid when people pretend windows magically works because it doesn't. Hell divers crashing, MCC crashing/alt tab bug, KF2 black screen freeze, GTA4 stability issues, shader stuttering in games, file system corruption needing steam verify game cache, reinstalling games and even Windows, multi CCD driver issues, etc, etc. All windows problems.

Hell literally the the 3rd most popular trouble shoot step for Windows is to reinstall it.

Meanwhile in Linux I click install and then click play. In my 3.5 years of exclusive Linux gaming I have only ever had to do 1 extra thing to get a game working and that was to manually install a .net package for the BETA of Payday3. Thats it.

Linux has been problem free compared to Windows.

I’ve installed Bazzite yesterday out of curiosity. I’ve never tried big games on Linux before. The same GPU as Jay’s - 7900xtx.

Interesting distro that does feel like some unofficial Steam OS with steam app preinstalled.

However, my gaming experience is similar to his. Few games I’ve tried work worse than on my Win10.

Resident Evil 4 works fine but at lower FPS.

Dead Space has some traversal stutters on Windows but easy to ignore. Stutters on Bazzite were unplayable for me. 1s long in some cases.

Castlevania collection from Nintendo DS - 3 super easy to run games but there is no full screen option in settings so I simply alt+Enter on windows. This shortcut in this game doesn’t work properly in bazzite.

Also all apps, like web browser, launch much slower on Bazzite for me.

I say bazzite as I’m not sure if it’s just this one distro being bloated and slow or if other distros behave the same.

Does anybody know a good example of a popular game running better on Linux than Windows so I can test that?

Why even call it an 'operating system' at a certain point. Too bad.

The issue I have with Jay's tests is that he was running i7 14700K while the cpu schedular System 76 (modified CFS) doesn't care what is a P core and E core. Same can be applied to AMD's dual CCDs CPUs.

If Linux have problem with popular CPUs, then it's Linux's issue. There was no warning about hardware limitation when I was installing bazzite.

I have 7800x3D+7900xtx and performance on stock bazzite feels noticeably worse than on stock win10 for me in few games I've tried.
