hogwarts legacy is also notorious for this too.
But I had the same problem in MH: Rise (about 4 weeks ago) and according to the game I'm not over the VRAM limit.
Also lately all of my games were crashing. They just freeze and close to desktop without error. At first I thought it was my RAM OC being unstable (i used this OC for 6 years), so I increased RAM voltage and it seemed I fixed it, but I got the same crash today weeks later and now I'm paranoid. Yeah maybe the crash wasn't related to my initial problem, could have been a game glitch.
So far I have replaced a bunch of 3060ti and 4060ti 16gb model from pny to zotac. Because back then I thought a cheap aib model for a low-end sku is enough for my sff. Since I'd be under volting it to ensure it runs cool. Boy have I come to regret that sentiment. I won't touch anything that isn't msi or asus again.
if its game specific ask in the games forum
When VRAM is going you will almost always get these things to happen:
1. System instability, freezing, black screens
2. Uneven streaking / fuzz manifesting as lines (because of how draw methods work). This usually does not follow any borders of an object in a game and will appear with or without the game being open
3. Repeated game crashing for other games including the one you are playing
4. System exception linked to either memory or GPU
5. Hardware acceleration causing crashing**
^ To add to complexity of that, an overclock or board incompatibility can cause that too. Sometimes it can be caused by the RAM stick, which can be easily checked if you swap RAM A & B.
**For (5) hardware acceleration itself can cause issues on some systems. You can try disabling Steam's hardware acceleration and seeing if the issue resolves. If you run Discord, Chrome, or any other "Chromium-like" application either close or disable hardware acceleration and see if the issue resolves.
Yesterday I installed my PC components into a new case (Meshify 3) and went from 80°C on CPU to 58°C
Not sure about the GPU temps, my graphics card seems to be configured to run fans as slow as possible as long as it doesn't reach past 75°C. I was hitting 80°C on GPU as well before though.
I will see if it helps. I wanted a new case anyway, my old one was prehistoric (from 2007) and it was a pain to work inside it.
