some use windows user files, or local settings, or the games install folder, and can be in windows registry
there is no default location for the saves
if you want to backup the games, grab gamesave manager, and copy them to a usb stick or somewhere safe
That's exactly why steamwork for steam cloud games was updated for this situation.
I know it's been a few years now that the save are no longer in the steam cloud folder only anymore.
Steam cloud already been adapted for this for a while, they just need to offer a way to customers to set it up by players for games that publishers and devs don't set it up.
