They need gamers more than gamers need them. Even if all the AAA studios disappeared overnight, indie studios would pick up the slack.
RT is a garbage feature whose performance cost in no way justifies the visual change. It is obviously meant to make suckers upgrade and now they want to force it down our throats.
The same story with ray tracing.
Gaming is a hobby. I am not currently working as a software developer in the games industry.
If I cannot run a game with what I have, I won't buy it.
Why would I pay 70 for a game, then buy a GPU that costs over 1000 just to actually play it?
I got a better idea: I'll read a book instead. Those tend to be more entertaining than modern games anyway which are almost universally bloated, buggy, and full of terrible stories
GTA 6 is going to be terribly safe and Witcher 4 is going to be for the modern audience that doesn't exist.
"What will you do?" Probably something more meaningful like spend the money on my kids or do something cool to my ride.
These tech companies need to grow up and realize this overpriced garbage has no business in a normal person's life that actually owns property and pay bills and understands value.
I could literally get the best set of wheels and tires for my ride, along with other cool meaningful things like new speakers or whatever.... Or I could get a 5090.
There's no way I'm going to believe that these gpus are more valuable than a pristine set of wheels for my sports car? No way, the value simply isn't there anymore.
