all of my monitors is 24 and 144 hz. it is all i have room for on my inherited living room table. there is 3 of them, though each is connected to multiple pcs. my strongest pc(i7-8700k, rtx 2080 ti) and my toshiba laptop(i7-4700mq, gtx 770m) is connected to one. the other 2 is connected to my other desktop(i7-2600, gtx 650 ti boost) and my acer laptop(amd a4 5000 with hd 8330). my tv is also connected to my strongest pc and my asus laptop(i7-2670qm, gt 630m) and my xbox series x. no monitor is connected to only one thing, apart from the integrated ones of course.

That was 13th gen only, 14th gen only had microcode issues leading to degradation as a result of vmin shift

Intel's 13th and 14th generation Core processors have experienced reported issues with instability and potential degradation, particularly affecting high-end desktop models like the i9. The instability, known as "Vmin Shift Instability," stems from elevated voltage levels potentially caused by incorrect microcode and motherboard settings. While Intel has released BIOS and microcode updates to address the issue and mitigate the risk, some users have reported irreversible damage to their CPUs.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
The Problem:
Vmin Shift Instability:
This refers to a situation where the voltage supplied to the CPU (Vmin) can shift due to improper settings or microcode, leading to instability.
Excessive Voltage:
In some cases, the CPU is fed too much voltage, which can lead to permanent damage and system crashes.
Reported Issues:
Reports surfaced of users experiencing crashes and blue screens with their 13th and 14th gen processors, especially i9 models.
Irreversible Damage:
In some instances, the damage to the CPU is irreversible, requiring a replacement.
Intel's Response:
BIOS and Microcode Updates:
Intel has released BIOS updates that include microcode updates (including the 0x12B and 0x12F updates) to address the voltage instability issue.
Warranty Extension:
Intel extended the warranty on affected 13th and 14th gen desktop CPUs by two years.
Encouraging Updates:
Intel is working with motherboard manufacturers to encourage timely rollout of the BIOS updates.
What Users Can Do:
Update BIOS:
Users should ensure their motherboard BIOS is updated to the latest version, incorporating the Intel microcode updates.
Use Intel Default Settings:
Using the Intel Default Settings profile in the BIOS can help mitigate the risk of instability.
Monitor Voltage:
Users can monitor their CPU voltage using tools like HWiNFO and adjust settings to avoid excessive voltage.
Consider Undervolting:
Some users are experimenting with undervolting their CPUs (reducing the voltage) to reduce stress on the CPU.
Check for Oxidation:
While Intel has focused on voltage-related issues, some users have also reported oxidation as a contributing factor to degradation, which is not fixable with software updates.
Important Considerations:
Motherboard Compatibility:
Ensure that the BIOS update is compatible with your specific motherboard model.
Overclocking:
Overclocking can exacerbate the issue, so it's recommended to avoid excessive overclocking or to carefully monitor voltage levels if overclocking.
Cooling:
While better cooling can allow for higher power draw, it can also potentially accelerate degradation, so ensure adequate cooling for your system.
What is the matter with the degradation of the 13th and 14th series of Intel, can you explain to a beginner? : r/buildapc
