What would happen if Steam shut down?

A friend of mine brought this up earlier today, and now I womder, what would happen if Steam got shut down permanently?

Also, you'd probably get a small time gap to download all the games you owned in a drm-free version (since Valve has promised that since the beginning)

If they shut down permanently for no reason with no given notice then I'll sue them.

Another company will take over steam. With steam's user base so large, companies will be willing to spend a fortune to acquire steam.

Now that you mention it, yeah, pretty sure even devs wouldn't be ok with steam shutting down. So it may actually never shut down because nobody could allow it to shut down

Launching F.E.A.R and its DLCs is very annoying now
