Do you agree that someone should step in?
About all the gambling in games now?

But what about people weak to gambling, but still want to enjoy AAA games? Should those people not be able to play the games, due to gambling becoming a norm in AAA?

because addiction has never been about what one is addicted to.

addiction is related to child abuse and those affected will get addicted to anything that brings them pleasure

Compared to violence in games or adult content games. Gambling can actually ruin someone's life. They could charge up a ton of virtual currency because they can't help themselves on credit. Then spend years or more paying that back.

Can't that mean gambling can be more destructive than violent or sexual games?

And games don't carry gambling warnings and can be made for kids. Like pokemon used to have slots, but that never used real money.

Why give gambling the free pass?

Would you like a future where many games have lot boxes? Or if regular pokemon was more like say pokemon go but with microtransaction gamble balls?

Only China has done it so far, and that destroyed the value of several huge companies there.
this is why the item economy was a mistake

Anyway I wish that people would stop decorating their usernames with one or two or even three different gambling site names. Some forums you step in and you see everyone is named like "Bob CSGOGreedy CSGOBetz GetSkinz" and if there's something on Steam that makes me want to summon Jesus-beating-up-the-merchants it's that.

Well, yes since this can ruin a person life and companies are pushing it in the faces of the constumers.

Putting in gambeling is already bad enough,
Advertising it and trying to manipulate your playerbase to start buying keys for loot boxes or some ♥♥♥♥♥ is just shamefull and insulthing.

Hopefully in the not so far future politicians will realise that gambeling is being un-monotized in easy-to acces games.

How is disclosing the odds of what you can get in loot boxes destroying things? Or did you mean some other regulation?

I don't know, I would think that stepping in would be a bit of a...gamble.

Yes, I believe that games that contain strong gambling elements (especially where real money is involved) should be 18+, at least, or legally be treated like casinos and online gambling sites.

I'm also generally skeptical of Skinner's Box games that are designed to create dependency and addiction to a point where people ruin their careers and education, but that is a less clear-cut subject than gambling.
