'review bombing' isn't a thing
It's just something that devlopers, publishers, and their fanboys make up when there are genuine criticisms about their games that they don't care about addressing, so they try to brush it off & discredit those who review their games.

Prove me wrong

They're all just opinions.

I've managed to write 7 reviews until now, they don't contain opinions. It's quite difficult to do that. You simply can't expect that from all these members. And also, they make for really boring reviews.

Sounds like something a review bomber would say.

Looks at OP's reviews... Pretty close.

so, according to OP, no coordinated (accidental or deliberate) action can take place online if it involves leaving negative reviews on a product or service.

unfortunately for me, OP is correct, so me and my 24 alts aren't capable of negatively reviewing this here topic.

dang

It exists, but it's legitimate and one of the few ways the consumer has left to fight back if something's changed after they already bought the game.

well, I wouldn't say it's necessarily always legitimate; sometimes it's because humans are irrational actors and their best friend and tormented YouTube thumbnail Kevin (whose pet dog works at Nintendo) said that Nintendo are going to make Gordon Freeman a girl AND THAT'S JUST GOING TOO FAR!!!!!!11eleven

edit: ...uh, point being that sometimes the basis for it is dumb but that's what we am are have branes for :D we can think critically :D

:D

Has anything like that ever happened, though? All I've seen of it is in reaction to an official announcement or action.

What did they do?
It was back before Overkill take back ownership of the game and their publisher was the one that was implementing goes insane cash-grab DLCs, and The gamers ended up getting mad and didn't actually review the game properly because they all really liked the game, so everybody jumped on the negative review bandwagon and dropped the game down to mostly negative. There was nothing wrong with the game aside from what the publisher was doing, And Overkill was also mad about it.

So that mob mentality led everyone to negatively review the game despite the fact that the game was fine.

It was a definitive review bombing.
