If you dont have a credit rating system in your country, what is used to determine your eligibility for loans, credit cards, etc?

oh and for those who dont know how credit works.. some helpful info.

There are about a half dozen things in your credit history that are used to figure out your credit score. Not sure the current numbers, but in general.

1) Your income and current worth/holdings (such as a paid for house, etc)
2) Your history of credit payment. Paying late on stuff lowers rating, paying on time is better of course
3) Your max credit available. For instance if you have 3 credit cards, each with 2500 limit, giving you a 7500 credit limit. Having a higher credit limit of course is better than lower. Someone with 100k credit limit is better than someone with 10k.
4) Your max cerdit limit compared to what you currently owe. 10% is usually the magic number. If you have 3 credit cards with a 2500 limit, and you owe less than 250 dollars on each, thats good. If you have a lot of debt on them, not good.
5) a few other things, can't remember them off hand

some other things.

When you have loans, car loans, personal loans, or other type of payments. Usually for the first 40%-50% of the loan or payment, you credit actually goes down. This reflects that the loan is new, and most people have problems on new loans, and your payments on the loan aren't noted as a positive history. After your each 50% or so, THEN your credit actually goes up since you have a prooven track record. For instance, you have a car loan of 20,000 dollars over 6 years. For the first 3 years and 10,000 dollars you pay, your credit actually goes down a little because you don't have a prooven safe track record. After you hit the half way point (it used to be 40%, not sure currently so i say 50%) then your credit goes up since its showing you are paying on time, doing good, have past the "danger" point that most have with loans, etc.

Anyone building up their credit score usually make sure to pay off any such loans, etc up to 50% as fast as possible, in order to start building positive credit. A good way for those using multiple loans to build credit score by paying off half right away, then letting the monthy payments for the 2nd half build over time raising your score. Example. Borrow 3000 dollars, paying 100 a month for 30 months. Take 1500 of that loan and pay that right away, lowering the loan to 1500 dollars for 15 months. This will give you 15 months of positive credit building.

yeah, because without it i can't get credit which includes such things as banal and tedious as mobile phone contracts or mortgages

(and it's derived here by reliably paying back any kind of credit, and not using credit too often, which is, uh, very boring to say. i will be much more exciting in my next post)

I’ve maintained a good to excellent rating from day one. It is part of being an adult. It is easy to maintain; don’t buy things you can’t adford and pay it back on time.
Not really. I always pay my bills, loans, taxes, etc - on time. Last I checked it was good, but I rarely use the card. Cash and debit work just fine for me.

It closes many doors for me, but no. I will not put myself in debt (past 150€ which I can pay off at the drop of a hat).

Live within my means. That works. Spend no more than I earn, and I will never need credit.

My credit is lousy, but that's just unpaid medical expenses. Generally when I buy stuff I save up the money and buy it out right. I only toted a note for one car, every other vehicle I saved and bought it outright.

I have bought 3 houses that I had to get a note on, all 3 basically went back due to structural issues or outright criminal behavior by the lender. It's magical being married to a lawyer.

So yeah, only thing on my credit is medical expenses. A lot, I pay them a little here and there though. For most debts if you make any semblance of an attempt to pay them back they can't touch you. They can still destroy your credit, but hell even when I had good credit and my late wife was fresh off the boat she could get a loan faster than I could so it's not like I give 2 ♥♥♥♥♥ now that I'm old, cranky, and have no need of credit.
My credit is shot thanks to my brother stealing my identity.
Calling it a rat race is stupid to be completely fair. You can't really do much without good credit. Lol

Nah, you don't need to go into debt to get a good credit score. Ypur phone bill counts to it, broadband, council tax( if you have that in your country, having and overdraft facility on an account.
It's weird how it works. I'm like you, No credit cards, not in hock, only the occasional stock investment that doesn't work out. And my credit rating is "excellent" apparently broadband and phone, gas/leccy and house insurance count as credit, even though I pay it all standing order every month.

Me mum used to say, if you can't buy it twice you can't afford it.

soon we will return to the forest, when we're sick of the walls we've built around ourselves

with that in mind, don't worry about the credit score.

"cash and precious metals" exempts you from "the rat race"?

More like choosing to ride a donkey than a horse...

I hear that cryptocurrency is poppin right now.
With out a good credit score you are pretty well ♥♥♥♥ out of luck to get anything, credit card, line of credit, loans... anything like that.
