i cannot fathom why my two young nephews like to play minecraft. they enjoy playing that game and in the end i am happy too...
Now, some people do use the retro aesthetic badly, but then, there's plenty of state of the art AAA games that are done badly, too. It's not the style that counts, it's the quality of the game.
If I wanna get all nostalgic with 8 or 16 or whatever-bit classic games, then I will go play those actual games instead of the retro-knockoff stuff. Hell that is the great thing about those old cartridge consoles and even DOS games, they still work! ^_^
I'm just happy steam finally put in a blacklist so I can filter out all the pixelcrap.
You would not believe how cleaned up things are gaming wise when you filter out "Anime", "Visual Novel", and "Pixel Graphics". It's like the Steam that existed before all the indie-hipster-trash got shoved in our faces.
Color movies have been around since the late 30s. In 1993 Steven Spielberg made some lame black and white movie, ruining the entire industry. I haven't been back to the theatre since.
