Sleep Paralysis
I hear friends talking about sleep paralysis and how scary it is and how they're all scared of it. Apparantly you're stuck in your own dream but awake at the same time. It sounds like something so unrealistic which is why I want to experience it.
Can you induce sleep paralysis on yourself or is it a natural thing, if so, how?

Sure. Every single night. As far as waking it and knowing, I dont think you need to worry.

I've never experienced sleep paralysis before. I'm not sure if I want to any time soon.

Aparantly its not too bad, 90% of all cases report to have aparitions or ghost-like presence in their rooms during sleep paralyisis. Imaginge being that 10% and experiencing something literally "out of this world"
Just hope it isn't accompanied by a night terror.

I had it once 15 years ago. It IS that bad, like a demon standing down looking at you while you can't even open your eyes while he's maintaining his dominance, as he's getting ready to rip your soul out.

Sleep paralysis #$%#ing sucks

It sucks for someone who has experienced it, for someone who hasnt experienced it however, it seems like something I want to try but dont want to try at the same time. Its not as easy as that considering you dont have a choice

it's nothing like that. you are actually "awake" and you can see and look around but you aren't able to move around, your brain still thinks you're asleep hence the paralysis. because your brain still thinks you are in the sleep cycle your breathing will be shallow so it will feel like something heavy is on your ribs and unable to breathe nromally, this usually triggers a panicked reaction.

part of the disturbed sleep pattern follows the idea along with the panic you feel that someone or something maybe in your room as you hear noises or the paranoia takes a hold, the thinking usually follows that this unknown phantom maybe trying to kill you.

luckily the panic starts to ease off after a few minutes and you continue your REM sleep cycle.

But is every Sleep paralysis event a horrible nightmare or is it possible to have a somewhat decent experience?
i've had 3 decent experiences i still remember and that is out of all three events i've had in the past. what i stated was right out of experience on the matter.

Oh so it is possible. Im assuming the chances of experiencing something decent is very low, or is it equal to the chances of experiencing a night terror?

I've only ever had one night terror in my life and that was when i was a kid. it's a different experience. the terror i remember clearly was my vision going really really wierd and it freightened the hell out of me so much so my father came in and sat with me for a few minutes so i could calm down.

a night terror is different in that there is no paralysis, you wake up and you immediately feel dreadful, extremely freightened and almost hysterical. i can't say for certain because it was only one time though.
I don't sleep on my back because that increases your chances of getting sleep paralysis.
