Will it be better for schools to change a few learning subjects?
People ask "why learn chemistry when I need to learn how to file income tax". The bigger purpose of a school is to develop a civil person. The person is being taught a mixture of Language, math, science, art, music, social studies. Without schools people can be less less civil. Gang fights and social problems were usually initiated by school drop outs.

However, schools training a civilian the same way can be out of date. Math and science subjects are credible during the industrial and technology advancing age, but it might not be the best candidate for today's e-commence and economy.

For example, given the same job requirement (waiter , sales, designer, programmer, etc), companies might just hire that famous youtuber or influencer over someone without skill in presenting themselves but having a pass in chemistry.

Do you think schools should drop subjects such as History, Geography, Literature, Music and replace them with more up to date things which can make a person more civil today, e.g. online behaviors / mass communication / money management (e.g. prevent teenagers from overspending $5000 on candy crush).

I'm sorry but learning chemistry is actually usefull...
No? You can learn how to file taxes without school quite easily. Besides schools already have a flexibility in subjects for students. People just blindly enter a particular stream to later on realize they didn't needed that. On a side-note, high school Chemistry is very easy, most students can do it & pursue a course whatever seems practical to them simultaneously.

... Why is the alternative "someone who doesn't communicate"? Communication skills are taught and assessed in basically all subjects at school.

Everything in school is useful.

Well

I do think that we could stand to spend a lot less time on certain things, which might in turn open up time for a basic life skills class or two.

I mean, the first time I ever saw an algebraic concept (barring the odd "extra food for thought" brainteaser) was in seventh grade. Does it really take six years, plus or minus kindergarten, to teach people to add, subtract, multiply and divide?

Now, I don't think we should drop chemistry or anything, but maybe we could spend, you know, like five-ish years on four simple concepts instead?

…Parents should raise their kids instead of insisting that other people do their job for them. Public education is a misnomer. Those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it. Unions exist to conspire against the public.

These are all true.

School should focus more in making the kids learn rather than memorize, what's the point in learning all the freaking periodic table if you don't understand it?.

Schools shouldn't drop those subjects, they should adapt those subjects to todays standards, update them and help those students struggling not leave them behind.

Schools should also stop the mentality that if you succeed on class you succeed in the real work environment, this is false. While one student is good at math they might suck on chemistry and viceversa, i think schoola should be helping those students to find what they want rather then punishing the for failing a stupid subject because they couldn't memorize what the teacher said.

Some teachers are also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who can't take criticism, specially on math, they always got mad at me because I wasn't able to do divisions the way they did, i found it much harder so I did it the way I was able to.

Memorizing is dumb learning is what matters

Also homework is useless

The more time I spend listening to people, the more I'm convinced that those who do learn history are doomed to repeat it too.

No, it doesn't. No school is spending six years just teaching people that.

Can confirm this is indeed real.

Both of them sucks if one graduate doesn't even know the meaning of INDEPENDENCE once he/she leaves school.

Failed conceptualization of Independence can not form the wish for Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Choice. If one individual can not get into grips of his/her basic Human Rights, that one will continue to live as a tool for a "culture" or "government" wherever he/she goes.

All totalitarian regimes in this world, even the past now defunct Empires knew this fact and "created" minds in this respect to form massive armies that would go to death blindly for their Supreme Leaders or "Godlike" Emperors.

World needs to eliminate suppressive schools and "Vocational Re-education Camps" that build slaves, not individuals. If not, brainwashed citizens will not see your tears once they find a way to oppress you.

Sure. Let’s sacrifice basic knowledge in order to learn how to become a successful TikTokker…

If you ask me, the average person already knows too little about these subjects. They should be taught more, not less

Only because 90% of the populace is lead around by 2% who are constantly at odds with the 8% who are trying to get said mainstream to pay attention in class.

Considering that unions, the people they shelter, and the antics of said people they shelter are a key reason why teachers are as of the past couple years becoming more hated than lawyers, you're absolutely right that it's real.
