Most Underrated console?
In my opinion it is the Saturn, it was underrated even by Sega itself, so many great games were never released in the west...
I have always loved the Mega Drive and I think that if only Sega was able to express the full potential of the Saturn it could have been easily better than the Mega Drive. Unfortunately things went different, at least in the west... Maybe if I lived in Japan I would remember the Saturn and like it more than the Mega Drive...

one of the main reason the saturn failed outside of japan is that it was costing sega a lot's of money to produce and they where not willing to take too much loss on it in order to push out more units.

Retropie is severely under-rated.

the genesis 32X addon could have been a decent machine to port 2D Arcade games to it considering they had a very accurate port of space harrier on it.

from what I've been reading capcom planned to port games like Darkstalker on it before sega announced the saturn would come out soon barely a year after the 32X was on the market.

Nintendo Gamecube.

There is quite a few games that now appear in discussions of classics like Eternal Darkness, Fire Emblem - Path of Radiance, Viewtiful Joe, Baten Kaitos and Animal Crossing.

Wii U, Splatoon started there, Mario Maker was on there, and they had Miiverse

Vita.

I think Vita had potential that never came to fruition.

For all intents & purposes, it was probably a lot more powerful than Nintendo's own 3DS / DS...

Probably the Sega Saturn - should have been competitive to the PlayStation, but Sony's propaganda machine, exclusivity deals and difficult game development kinda killed it off in the Western sphere.

Also mentionworthy:

NEC TurboGrafx-16 - the "underdog" compared to Nintendo and Sega, but it had it's ups.

Wii U - actually a good improvement over the Wii, but too little too late.

3DO - a progressive video games and audio-visual entertainment system that lacked the support and price point to take off.

Atari Jaguar - ambitious but oversighted games console that lacked support and had some hardware oversights.

As for handhelds - Atari Lynx, PS Vita, TurboGrafx Express

I was shocked to hear that the GameCube was one of the worst selling Nintendo consoles. Part of it may be personal bias, since I grew up with it, but I really feel like that generation was where developers were at their most innovative (excluding the jump to 3D with the generation before it, of course).

No one appreciates the Wii U, has some memorable classics like Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Bros. U

Dreamcast for sure. I used to play it on a toy store in my city and i liked the design and some of the games for it. Too bad it was never very popular.
