Why do they keep putting motion blur in games if no one likes them?
People always keep them off, what is the point in the effect if the majority of people don't use it? A lot of games have the effect in it but devs still put it in regardless and I was curious why. It's similar to headbobbing in some first person games but it's no where as common as motion blur I think, but regardless people hate headbobbing too but they put it in some games regardless.

I like both of them It is about immersion, not making the game as easy as possible.
It helps some of the low spec gamers? Doesn't hurt to get additional options.

I keep it on always, even competitively. Never hinders me. I actually find it disorienting when there's no blur at all when I'm flicking my aim everywhere.

I don't see it ever affecting my frame rate either.

I think this is one of those situations when you constantly hear YouTubers saying you should turn it off, so a lot of people do. And most of the people who don't turn it off won't say anything because it makes them feel like pariahs, like they're doing something bad.

I like motion blur and headbobbing.
I don't understand the hate.

i like both, feels natural and immersive to me.

also, as this thread begins to shows, most claims as to what "everyone/no-one think" can almost unilaterally be switched to "i think".

For motion blur it depends (e.g. in ArmA the red dot for aiming would blur too when enabled opposed to having a better sense for speed in some racing or flying games, or if it is a subtle effect at the screen edges) and i keep headbobbing on most of the time. One could expand this to depth of field - which is usually nice, but sometimes just overdone or too extreme for my taste.

Having those things optional is nice i guess.

for people who cant get higher FPS and want their game to look kinda smooth.

some people like the effect.

me, it gives me simulation sickness so i disable it.

It`s annoying as hell, you don`t have speeding race car motion blur effect in real life every time you turn your head. Same with Chromatic Aberration, another annoying and unrealistic light reflection.

I like motion blur but I like to have it weak, so If there is a slider I usually set it to around 20%

Yeah... I totally have a monitor that does 165hz because I want my video games to look like I am only playing them at 20fps. Perhaps it's trying to simulate playing games at 4K.

Because there are developers and consumers who are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiots that think graphics are what makes a game good. These people should be cast out of the industry, out of the hobby, and into the streets.

Motion blur is heresy.

As someone who likes to drink while gaming, I don't enjoy this feature. Just like bloom it needs to go in the bin. Looking at you Oblivion.

Oblivion needs to go into the bin. By and far the worst game that Bethesda has ever put out, which is saying something considering they were hit with a class action lawsuit over Fallout 76.

Why do you have to speak for others?
