What the hell is happening in the UK?!
Bros it's like a full on Chinese style crackdown going on over there or what?

First I'm seeing people getting arrested for posting memes and stuff on social media.

Then comes the "online safety act" which is blocking a whole range of topics, not just adult sexual content like it was originally planned. Yesterday I learned that Wikipedia lost a high court case against the UK Government so now even some Wikipedia pages will require age verification.

And now today just when I thought it couldn't get any worse. Police forces in the UK are sending plain clothes female officers out onto the streets in jogging gear trying to bait males into cat calling them so a patrol car nearby can swoop in and arrest them for harassment.

Like seriously what the actual ♥♥♥♥ is going on right now? in a country where the police force is already severely under staffed, you're using valuable officers time and resources to arrest men for "staring as they drive past, honking or shouting "oi oi" out the window...

I'm just lost for words this is actually unbelievable and it doesn't feel real. What's next? Age verification to see and buy age restricted games on Steam? Arrested for approaching a woman and trying to chat her up? Arrested for having a difference of opinion about a sensitive topic?

The UK is a dying country.

The police are chasing after the softest targets because they're not allowed to solve the real issues.

I’m more concerned about what’s happening in russia with the influx of all the anti-west propaganda coming out of this place these days?

yep. any time a thread is made about something negative happening in the west, there is 90% chance it is a Z poster or wumao deliberately attempting to cause strife and arguments. actually, i believe some of the extremely overly positive worship threads of western things (like donlad) are likely Z/wumao as well, because they know it causes division and that is their whole job.

Is it just London, or is it nation wide? London has always had a permissive side to it that let bad behavior flourish. The US in the last year or so recently restricted access to adult websites, but, get this, only for those websites who are willing to participate. I think France did the same thing, but it's unenforceable. Some kid who wants to see stuff that's forbidden to him can usually get around it with a VPN or some hack.

Female police officers posing as casual joggers to bait men into cat calls ... er, if that's true, then yes, that is a waste of police manpower. I don't think it appropriate to do that to a woman, but I am in principle against laws that would regulate it. If the man doing it got in her face, then that's harassment of a different order.

The woman who acted as my mother typically came home from jogging tell me how men complimented her on her form and body, and it wasn't vulgar, but a kind of singles' opening line. Jogging along the bay front in the 80s was a singles scene of sorts.

The female jogging thing is currently a pilot program being run in Surrey in south east England so no, not London.

So instead of arresting rape gangs, phone snatchers and shop lifters, they're arresting a middle age builder because he looked at a girl jogging and called her sexy. Nice to see the police have their priorities in check.

The officer in the interview even said "while cat calling isn't a crime in of itself, it's still behaviour that needs to be addressed". So if it's not illegal, why the ♥♥♥♥ are you arresting people for doing it?

Because it makes female joggers feeling uneasy?
Dunno about UK tradition, but I'd consider cat calling a total stranger rude and sometimes offensive.
Also it should prevent a more serious crime, like groping or assault.
