Chipolte is not what it was back in 2006
Millennial-'Boomer' here. Back in the day this place was all the rage, especially in a small suburban town where you and your friends would drop by on the weekend for some grub. Then go back home and after a few rounds of Texas hold'em, maybe play Guitar Hero on the X360 meanwhile checking your LG chocolate phone to pretend you have a side life to look cool in front of your d-bag friends.

A century later, I drag my wrinkly old butt into a near by Chipolte (a name I haven't heard of since the clone wars... literally) only to find myself standing in line waiting for my turn, (the lady in front of me was very hungry) only to end up in an argument with the server because I couldn't hear what she was saying. The background environment was full of activity with fans and commotion. When asking me what 'protein'I wanted on my burrito, I chortled a bit and and asked "Do you mean meat, like chicken or beef?" (meanwhile the guy behind her is banging the pots and pans so loud almost as if he's trying to summon ancient gods). I told her that I couldn't hear her becasue of the pan banging and she said that "It's his job to do that". (Trying hard not to laugh) I said ma'am, my niece and nephew could do that a lot quieter. I then asked her at least twice to please speak up, thus she got very salty with me, to the point she said I have an attitude . I almost started laughing because I could tell she was projecting onto me (she clearly hates her job). I never raised my voice, I never used profanity, I did not come off as aggressive. I just simply asked her to please speak up and she acted like I was the problem. (The other people behind me even rolled their eyes over the situation). She was not very tall, blond hair, blue eyes, probably less than 5ft, possible mid late twenties or so. She did not have a loud dominating voice like a male would, but a more softer reserved voice so maybe I slightly triggered her when I pointed out I couldn't hear her well. And I don't even have bad hearing, I can still hear the mosquito chirp clearly. If I was in her position I would have grabbed a pen and paper and just wrote out what I was trying to say instead of making the customer look like a villian. Looking back I should have just walked out and left a bad review online like everybody else. I've been to so many restaurants in my life and even worked many years in retail, and not once have I ever encountered this kind of behavior.

What I've experienced is nothing like I did back then. In those day's the lines were shorter, prices were balanced, the employee didn't want to throw food at you, and there wasn't some e-coli scare every couple of months on the news.

Is this the new normal? Is Chipolte becoming the new subway? Don't get me started about the prices, it's well over $10 for just 1 burrito, I'm not going back simply because of that. Did I just happen to go to a bad location that needs better employees? Or am I just a fat old fart that needs to turn up my hearing aid and to stop thinking EMO is coming back?

It's just the tiny hats as per usual. Doesn't take much effort to figure it out.
your story made me lol, but i have never eaten at chipotle as i am pretty sure they do not operate in my country. i have been on holiday to countries with chipotle though and they always had queues out the door.

from your lulzy story and what i have heard from others the food seems fine, but nobody wants to get chipotle because they have to wait in a loud, chaotic, annoying environment in a queue for half an hour. and when you are hungry, these annoyances make you hangry.

and when you are hangry, none are safe.

I had Chipotle once. Didn't seem worth a second try.
you should try going back. they have the new Garlic Guajillo Steak as an option.
tho i still won't pay $14 for a burrito, and no free chips?

The prices have gone up.
The don't sell those Nantucket Necktar drinks anymore.
The instant you say you're going to pay with a card they print a 'receipt' and they even call it that, even before you reach for your wallet. They just printed a bill and I have not paid. How dare they call that a receipt. I've been training every new person who calls it a receipt to reprint after I pay so that it is proof of payment(definition of a receipt) with the card number I used for years but they never learn and they'll never change.
I did think to challenge them after they called it a receipt that this piece of paper proves that I paid and I can go... except I don't want to end up in jail.

Also do find the South Park episode about Chipotle(and Billy Mays selling Chpoltleway).

I wish I could go back to 2006.

Bush was still in power.

The 2007-2008 stock market crash hadn't occurred yet.
then don't go. i've had a bad experience or two going out to eat and instead of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it i just don't go back.

Oh god yes, life between 2004-2010 was top notch for me. I’d love to take a visit if I could.
