Humans and pets have been getting vaccines for years and years, most likely you have had multiple as a baby/child growing up, unless living under a rock?
The entire reason for a vaccine is for your own body B-Cells to learn it without having to fight it off at the same time. Either way, vaccine or real infection, your body b-cells learn to remember it and remove it. However that process can take time. If a real infection, it can overwhelm the human body before it's learnt to fully defend against it and it's also easier to be spread from person to person. So even if it doesn't affect you much, another can suffer, such as a child or the elderly... someone already sick in hospital or with a low auto-immune, etc.
More likely they will try to treat themselves with Ivermectin. Or have you ever seen a horse with rabies...?
