Silly reason to dislike them or give up on achievements. Achievements can be fun sometimes.
I too liked when it was a separate mode. But it's really a per game basis.
Single player games are basically interactive movies. Multiplayer is a social activity. Think of it as reading a book vs. playing card games with a bunch of people. Both can be enjoyed or hated by people of any age.

Think of something like Mass Effect. It's as close to a move as one could possibly get, and still one of the greatest games of all time.
Bro, you don't understand -- our stockholders in all their infinite wisdom and no consequences for if we fail horribly say that modern audiences doesn't want cerebral media that expects them to thoroughly understand and appreciate the myriad of details that are lovingly crammed into a masterpiece that they will play again and again.
It's gotta be yet another thoughtless extraction shooter with plagiarized assets and maybe even a smattering of unwanted AI slop thrown in the mix, that's projected to like make a bajillion dollars! Just trust me, bro.
If it's a single player game then I would much rather 100% of the developer focus be on creating more/larger levels with more single player content. I feel like any resources they put into a multiplayer mode is a complete waste of time and effort that could have been better spent. (For example, they cut out like 100 hours of content from RDR2's single player in order to focus on the garbage RDR2 online mode)
As for multiplayer specific games, I hate them all because they took away community run dedicated servers that gave players options and created communities of like minded players, in favor of crappy matchmaking systems that have you playing against random people like 99% of the time, with no real options as to things like your ping level, what map you're playing on, what mode you're playing, etc.
AND to make matters worse, developers can at any point completely shut down any matchmaking based game, rendering it completely unplayable with the excuse of "not enough people are playing it" while games with community run dedicated servers can pretty much never be killed as long as the community is still hosting servers.
In addition community run dedicated servers with a browser made it completely effortless to avoid problematic players or hackers/cheaters, whereas matchmaking pretty much gives those players free reign for hundreds of hours before they get banned, only for them to return 5 minutes later on a new copy and a new account where they continue cheating with impunity.
1) were stupid (eg, kill all the enemies without letting your teammates get any kills on the map nobody ever chooses)
2) were actually impossible (ie, the game's multiplayer had already shut down)
3) had nothing to do with my ability (eg, be online when someone else happens to find the white whale, with like a 1 in infinity billion chance)
I just sorta didn't care anymore.
you mean like turning fallout 4 in to 76 turds?!?!?!?!
