cultural appreciation v.s. cultural appropriation?
I don't get it...

like people want to express their culture right? because they want to be appreciated and feel valid right? cuz everyone is important right?

so why is it when people appreciate others culture suddenly it's "cultural appropriation" and it's a bad thing?

like... does everyone just want everyone else to be jelly or what?

Express your culture but in YOUR OWN country. Don't come to the better, superior countries to fly your ugly flag. That's insanely low IQ ignorant behavior and you're just making me more racist because I don't want you in my country and it's annoying.

im a white ass person from finland so i dont really have a "special culture"; we just have soups and some in the northern finland have some nice looking gowns. so i dont really know what to say about the topic

i think:
-> Cultural appropriation is sometimes mistaken for cultural appreciation, and vice-a-versa
-> cultural appreciation is a less mocking form of cultural appropriation
-> cultural appropriation is for example a white person in Europe using a Japanese name (though, i guess, this can be debated for appreciation on some levels, i still think its wrong to do)
There's a wide gulf between a plastic paddy parade in Boston and a crazy lady who makes a leavened challa twisted into a cross for a "Christian Passover."

Leavening of any sort is a huge no-no. That's pretty basic knowledge, one would think.
There's really no such thing as cultural appropriation. It's a concept that never truly left the halls of academia and entered the public consciousness.

If your friends get on your case for celebrating cinco de mayo or something, they're a lot more left-wing than I am.

but stealing a culture and claiming it as your own is very disrespectful. so many people come up with excuses for it, but c'est la vie.

yeah i mean im a socialist and i dont really know why i would be sad or angry about people celebrating cinco de mayo, but if mexicans say its bad then i understand it
I don't know if Mexicans are angry about it, but they certainly roll their eyes at the dumbass gr_ngos who think it's their independence day or something.

And those novelty sombreros and fake mustaches are cringe for everyone.

Because we have no major wars or catastrophes to worry about so we invent things like culture wars.

Oh, i'm glad the 8 trillion we just dropped on a 20 year occupation of Afghanistan was nothing major. I was getting worried.
