Should we integrate NSFW AI Chatbots in future gaming?
Guys, you’ve probably seen how fast these NSFW AI chatbots are popping up everywhere. Sites like Replica and Janitor AI let you chat with all kinds of adult-themed AI characters. And they’re not just about spicy conversations—some of these bots have really interesting personalities, can remember your chats, and even react emotionally.

But here’s the thing: right now, all the action happens in chat windows or web apps. You can talk and build a relationship, but you can’t actually hang out with these characters in a real game world. There’s no making choices that actually change the story.

That got me thinking—what if we could bring these NSFW AI chatbots into actual games(18+ of course)? Imagine playing an RPG or open-world game where your AI companion isn’t just a scripted NPC, but a unique character that remembers your choices, reacts to your actions, and develops a relationship with you over time. Every player could have a totally different story or connection with the same AI character, depending on how they play.

Some questions for you all:
(1) Would having these AI companions in games make things more interesting, or just weird?
(2) What kind of challenges or problems could come up if devs tried this?
(3) Is this a cool way for adults to have more immersive experiences, or is it crossing a line?

Curious what everyone thinks! Would you want to see NSFW AI chatbots as real companions in future games, or is this a step too far?

We should integrate NSFW AI Chatbots at the DMV.

You're welcome.

I mean AI tools will and already being used inside game development and almost everything. So I don't surprise when something like that will happen
You need an entire seperate computer to run a LLM. If you integrated it into a game it'd mean your game would need two seperate PCs to play. Some people probably would, streamers already do for example, but most people wouldn't.

As far as I know, the game development is only using AI tools like image or video generation. But I've not even seen any real non-scripted AI characters that will react differently to your input texts. (Maybe just me)

I mean, you can play with nsfw ai chatbots on some online platforms without downloading any LLM, right? It's the same when integrating them into a game. But the problem is the increasing cost for game companies.

That's a really good idea, lol. Honestly, that’s the only way I’d survive waiting for my number to be called.

When you're doing it online it means a remote computer is doing it, and that costs money. All AI platforms right now are lossmaking (because they can cover the loss with grants and the like or by having a massive preexisting company). As soon as you try to implement it into a game you lose that though.

You don't. You can run smaller models leaving plenty of overhead to still run the game. Games like Inzoi are already experimenting with it to make the people "think", and The Wayward Realms will have an LLM running in the background to act as a sort of invisible AI DM.

The issue doing this is that both the LLM and the game itself are crippled.

Yeah, it needs resources for sure, but modern hardware has enough to handle it. For simple game AI, there are very capable LLMs that weigh in at just a few million parameters. That's enough to give an enemy smarter decision making abilities without gobbling up too much VRAM.

No, it is not, because LLMs, even high parameter ones, are extremely bad at decision making (because they don't understand context). All an LLM can do is generate more dialogue, but even there it won't be good at it because again the AI doesn't really understand what is happening.

And you're burning half your systems resources for that.

It is not a good tradeoff.
No. Never.
1) Incredibly weird. If you're into that kind of stuff, then I guess the option is fine but they should ABSOLUTELY make it a toggle so you don't have to engage with it.
I play games because they're fun, not to get off. There are much better places to do that, and it's not with a controller in hand.

2) It being unfitting in pretty much anything they put it in except for VNs that are focused on holding conversations (despite how artificial those conversations are, having pre-determined outcomes and all). I cannot see a NSFW ai working in something like Sonic or Final Fantasy without it feeling so out of place that it becomes a meme for the next decade.

I mean seriously, do you remember how much of a laughing stock was when a human kissed Sonic's corpse? You really think any game that adds a NSFW ai isn't going to see that effect multified by 10?

3) It's crossing the line of "if you want to go be weird, there are better ways to do it than a medium that relies on interactivity and engaging with the concepts presented to you).
There's a reason those obviously NSFW/softcore VNs never become huge sellers or game of the years. That isn't what people play video games for.

Also, at least personally, if my AI companion suddenly starts being flirty with me in a realistic way I'd be so weirded out that I would probably drop the game. I don't care if you're into that stuff, you do you, but that would be such a buzzkill for me it's insane.
I play games to have fun. Not for...that.

Yes, it sounds weird. Maybe new games could integrate such nsfw ai chatbots instead of the old one with famous IP like Final Fantasy.
you could and find quickly the necessity of a warning label on the game for workers causing a segregation and hate towards the gaming community
