sight.. dumb scenario... I hate the zombie trope..
and how exactly would this work.. there is no life on mars... no atmosphere and so much radiotation it's leathal.

but ok I amuse you... what kind of scientiffic realistic zombies are we talking about

undead is invalidated.. no walking dead.. even if we overtake their nerve system with an parasite, bacteria, fungal, other organism, or perhaps nanites/robotics, they still need to be alive to be able to being hijacked. dead bodies cannot walk the atp in their muscles would be gone after a few steps.. no amount of electrical stimulous will work after that point.

and if they are alive but basicly made braindead/comatose beings being hijacked.. than I ask.. how does their body not die in the mars climate of harsh radiotion, low temperature and thin atmosphere with lethal amounts of co2?

also whats the source of them? I personally not believe in evolution.. but even if you do.. no life ever was found on mars and even though they say it was viable for life billions of years ago.. it was never long enough for complex let alone sentient life.. so any life on mars would have to come from somewhere else thus have space traveling capability.. which makes you wonder why did they not come to earth?

but ok.. lets say we have the preflood society of around 13000 years ago.. we agree they are much more advanced than prior thought.. the ark of noah actually was a spacestation... with dna samples.. and the flood sterilisation.. to end a plague.. and society had to start over after..
(our genes do show a bottleneck after all.. they say only 6000 were left of us around that point.. perhaps even less just the 8 the bible states?

this could also align with budhist stories of gods tossing basicly nukes from orbit destroying everything..

so lets say the story is humanity reached an advanced socitty 20.000 years ago.. (which as a christian I say got corrupted by evil as the bible say) but which very well could be some sort of nanite robot infection that turned humans basicly into some sort of borgdrones...
they had climate control.. and flooded much of earth.. nukes for their emp effect were also used... to make sure all of the infection was gone... all of this happening around 13000 years ago.

this preflood society also had some space colonisation going, like colonies on mars..
but those did not have spaceflight ability... they were supplied with stuff from earth..
(just as many people who know how to use a computer would not have any idea how to build one.. lets say those humans on mars would have no idea how to escape mars)
-these bases are subterainian.. deep underground shielded from the radiation from space.. in sealed biodomes with genetic modified plants and animals providing oxigen and food..
the energy for such bases could be geothermal or nucleair as mars does have thorium and uranium.

lets say some of that excaped the termination of 13000 years ago.. but without the ability to reach earth..

***we can have an empty base.. with a few surviving nanites.. or bacteria dormant.. until new living humans step foot to infect them
**we can have some infected humans be in stasis pods..
**we can have an ai system have kept 13000 year old dna samples and having cloning systems.. to quickly clone as many humans and infect them with nanites as needed

or.. we can have a full on submerged living colony underground.. stagnant.. infected but somehow kept alive by the colony systems.. but dumbed down enough by this parasite to not escape to earth... but also kept smart enoug to sustain a breeding population and maintain/not damage the dome that sustains them for all this time..

regardless... Now we have our first modern manned mars mission trying to build exactly such a base, unware of this past...
and upon wanting to construct one.. discovering the remains of such an 13000 year abadanoned old base.. were nasa had thought to build their own..

well now.. your scenario has me being an astronaut seeing this envolt.

-if it is a virus/bacteria dormant that despite all the protocols infect the crew of this mission.. say it can get trough their spacesuits... and they walk to the rocket... . them walking to my rocket/home module after their discovery and infection...
-well I report to nasa first and press self destruct.. make sure it never reaches earth.
if I get taken over before I can activate self destruct.. I'm sure nasa can kill the module traveling home to earth before it reaches earth.

-if it is an ai that merely sampled our dna and clones into thousands of drones (deprived of human dna the reason it was seen no longer as treath) well than same thing.. but it might be a more severe problem.. such an ai might be only not being able to go to earth by not having the means to sustain human bodies to build said rocket... we just provided him that..
even if I press self destruct.. it might destroy the rocket.. but the very oxigen tanks, watertanks, seeds, all the materials we brought to build a base to live a couple mounts with our crew on mars alongside with a sample of our dna may be all that ai needs to buiild a new rocket and start to launch towards earth...
I still will self-destruct.. but well.. earths future is less safe...

-if stasis pods... same thing.. ok stasis pods are more limited than endless cloning.. and can be terminated easier than cloning abiulity by ai.. but still once they are in our living quarters and trying to take over... best you can try is cut that off.. basicly self destruct too..
the chance that they overrun in such numbers is much greater than with mere infect a few crew members.. after all we not expect non crew members to apear and we keep track of the health and location of crew members...
the chance they take control of the module before I can report to nasa/press self destruct is greater.. I still will try my best to do both.. if I have no longer acces to the systems doing this I will try to acces other systems to the same effect... basicly anything to notify nasa of the issue and terminate their chance to reach earth.
--the chance that they have the ability to rebuild a rocket to reach earth is lower than with ai taking dna samples..

-finally scenario a full on manned base.. well they never were smart enough to reach earth... and they already had plenty of human bodies and anything to sustain them...
so destruction of the rocket to prevent them reaching earth is enough... press self destruct, inform nasa.

so in any scenario.. inform nasa, and self destruct button is the action.
but depending on which scifi argument for those techno-zombies.. aka drones.. the danger to earth is more or less.
an dormant ai without acces to human dna.. that is rewakened after taking a sample with the ability to clone infinite number of drones and already has the abilility to build rockets (but only had no human dna to clone to have drones to build them with).. would be the maximum treath for even destroying the rocket would not kill that issue.. you would somehow do what the humans 13000 years ago failed to do.. take out that ancient ai behind all these techno-drones cloned zombies.

that would be the movie I would make....

so 13000 years ago.. AI went amok.. with nanites in infected humans as well as any other life with a nerval system and turned them into drones.

noah and his sons build A.R.C a space station with a small group of uninfected humans, as well as dna samples of most annimal spieces...

they than used nukes.. this destroyed the climatecontrol systems humanity long since build... as well as with emp destroyed all this ai.. but it also destroyed most technogy..
when it was made sure this ai was destroyed.. they landed their pod... pressing self destruct on the A.R.C spacestation... and landed their pod.. with in it their cloning and random recombinationd devise..
they used theior techology to clone back a viable population of 6000 humans plus enough animals, with some variantion...until it gave out.. it was self-destroyed to.. for safety no technology of this old world was allowed to survive... the humans from the arc teached the clones.. often founding the societies... many of their history lessons over millenia turned into myths...

meanwhile... a small base on mars subterainian.. a single ai mainframe survived the destruction of it;s colony... the humans had properly sterlised the colony.. not a single organic cell remained for it to clone... and while it was still tapped into the geotherman system.. it could do nothing but wait... for 13000 years..
-> it noticed drones send by earth recently.. but it wisely kept hidden... hoping... waiting...

until nasa send an expedition.. in 2040... planning to build a base in this very therman vent.. staying on mars for 6 months.. before returning.. shielded from radiotion..as earlier scans pointed out this was the best location for a potential base.. it has frozen ice.. it was deep enough to shield from radiotion, and may have thermal energy present..

first after landing all went well.. but than of the 20 man team.. one 4 man exploration team did not come back.. and did not report... and team 2 and 3 each also 4 man were send to look for them as they were calculated to only have so much air left... while 8 man kept at the homebase.. that still was mostly the return rocket.. they had not yet had time to buid out their full camp.,,

when suddenly screams sound... than silence... and some time later.. they seemed to walk back.. but their communication.. it was.. weird... not quite right.. their communication.. not quite human....
and the 8 man activated the "infiltration system checks" not alowing the 12 back in without all the tests.. the fysical tests somehow they all past no infection detected.. but the mental tests.. they showed odd.... also.. their answers were too similair.. their eeg's showed.. an almost comatose state.. yet they responded....
more checks while kept in quarantine... until error messages showed.. they tried to hack their way into the system... rewriting the ai assistant.. upon such hostile behavior no other choose was than to activate termination of these 12 astronauts.. and report the incident..
meanwhile mallfuctions of the moduls system did happen....

and so it was done... after contact with nasa... which showed that the ai was rewritten with unimaginable complex code.. that was only held back by the relative simplicity of the moduls systems.. this allowed them to purge this ai... and reset the original for return trip

the killed austronaut bodies were also done autopsy on.. and quickly before the doctor and assistant as member 13 and 14 would fall to the ai... it was found treir bodies were now swarming with nanites.. of a complexity we were still centuries from building.....

upon this nasa ordered.. abort and self destruct.. we cannot have this reach earth...
the 6 remaining astraunauts nodded.. they agreed their lifes were less important than the safety of earth... they set up self destruct.. while nasa flew in their family so they could have their farewells by the slow communication lines... (4 minute send message 8 mininutes to wait for a responce)

but than.. a horde of unrecognasiable bodies apeared... tens of thousands... humanoid.. in spacesuits but none recognisable... where did they all came from.. and they started to try to get their way in.. and rehack the system.... and made no attempt at cominication..
trying to prevent this detstruction.. taking over...

long action scene.. many deaths.. eventually the last man in his last death by some non foreseen way manages to link the oxigen and fueltanks causing an explosion that destroyes the rocket but alas... it launches anyway...

nasa barely manages to launch an intercepter missile... and nukes it before it reaches earth.. even though it massively polutes with space depreies..

earth apears safe for now... but than reports come in.. space telescopes show structures being build on mars now..

sir.. they apear to be.. building rockets....
to be continued...

that be the way to do a space "zombie" movie that makes some scientiffic sence.. non of that idiotic walking death.. but a simple nanite +ai.. that turns humans alive yet compatose and takes over their bodely functions with natinites
closer to star trek borgs
