HL3 missed its hype window.
Half-life 2 was complete garbage...I played it once, and I had to push myself to finish it.
Not complete yet it wasn;t so great. I'll agree but I don't want to be the one to say it. It WAS a GREAT engine and a REALLY nice game but it was... BORING! CS Source, TF2 and HLDMS were the good things to come out of the HL2 release. THOSE and access to the source engine.
If it had been released by any other developer (with a different name, of course) I'd be willing to bet anything it would have received average to bad ratings and became a forgotten game.
But, since Valve made it, and they named half-life, many people can't bring themselves to criticize it no matter what.
Alyx was great looking but. feel into the trap of (imho) too many set pieces and not enough freedom.
I hope HL3 looks further than the constrained corridor shooter trope.
dont get me wrong, i'll be excited, but i'll wait until it is officially released, HL3 i mean
It's alright. No one is judging you.
I really hated half life 2. I didn't like driving through a whole map of nothing or having NPC teammates forced on me that only got in the way. I did like throwing the can at the officers though.
I thought half life 1 was only just ok. Black Mesa felt way better in a lot of ways until it got near the end where it kind of dragged on for way too long. Still I prefer Black Mesa over the original half life.
