The use of AI in mods
AI can generate textures, generate ideas, and translate text. Okay...

My question...
How legal is it for a modder to create a mod that, for example, recreates the entire story of a video game and uses AI to emulate and copy a character's voice with prior consent from the voice actor?

This question came to me when I saw that someone was trying to recreate the story of GTA:SA but with Ryder not being a traitor.

If by any chance... the voice actors give permission (which honestly... I doubt)
Could they recreate the entire story, with in-game cinematics and lines, or would that still be illegal?

Surely Take-Two Interactive would take down the mod anyway. But what about other games?
Games like... Fallout.

Bethesda is open to the use of mods.
They've even allowed controversial mods.

This is me guesstimating.

1. It would come down to 'are you allowed to make mods anyway for that game.

2. Is the AI you are using completely free of ties to the creators of the AI model.

A problem with AI is however good it is, you are not putting yourself in it and that can damage what you want to do or be recognised for.

If I answer with AI in posts I always say this is a copy pasta from AI so people know it is me asking an AI and not me putting my 'style / self' to the post.

When you read a lot of AI / see a lot of AI your brain can pick up on it and sort of kills the mood and atmosphere a bit.

For example... AI was used to recreate songs with Michael Jackson's voice. Just to give an example... And they probably had permission.

So, if a company is open to creating mods and a modder makes a mod and has the consent of the mod's actor...

Again... In games like GTA:SA could make a mission and even make cinematics.
But as I said... Take Two is Russian roulette. xD

In Fallout: New Vegas, a modder paid voice actors. And now that I think about it... Instead of paying an actor, I could create voices for my characters.

In this mod I think the modders paid for voice actors.

True.
I'm an artist, and I often look at other artists' art.
And I don't need to look at the tag to know which one is AI and which isn't.

AI is so... How say... It looks... so plastic... So generic.
You discover it almost immediately. But of course... AI voices evolve, and maybe in a year or two it'll sound good.

Maybe... :tamamosquee:
