No one told them that. Seems more like it's a matter of who decides to report you and who doesn't, and whether they were politically left or right doesn't matter. Only that what you said COULD "possibly" be in violation of the rules, so they get to slap the ban hammer on you and then deny your appeal while you wait a month to be able to post again. In which case, the OP is in good company. Eventually some good "troll Samaritan" will come along to remind them of those rules, as they mass report them for the very behavior they engage in themselves.
