I use a Chinese cast iron wok at home and so far so good.

That's so tough though. I always find that I buy stuff advertised as made in any other country, but then when it arrives and I look at it it's got that dreaded "Made in China" etching.

Yeah, it's a reason why we shouldn't have completely wide open trade with China. They do things that are illegal elsewhere, and in the money they save doing those things domestic manufacturers cannot legally do, they undercut them, put them out of business and soon the market just gets flooded with cheap junk. Or the domestic brand has to cut so many corners it ain't worth it.

I have a desk fan made in the 1940's. Same basic parts and mechanism they were using in those fans since the 1910s. Still works. Even models from the 1910's and 20's usually just need the old grease cleaned out, new grease added, and a new cable, and they're good as new at 100+ years old. My 40's model will last another 80 years. Over that same time period I'd be buying 15-20 "made in China" models.
