Win10 to Win11 via windows assistant
If I install Win11 via windows assistant, do all the files on the same drive C: stay or get erased?

Win10 is longing supports until October 2026--why do please changers??

Yep, if you are doing an in-place upgrade which the Installation Assistant does. then everything will move to the newer OS
So your settings and software will remain in place.

Yep, You can upgrade by doing an in-place upgrade or clean install
Typically people suggest clean installs to avoid any possible issues that could be carried over from the previous OS but so far I didn't find it an issue going from 10 to 11. it was a far more common issue if you went from 7 to 10 back then.
This is an "in-place upgrade."

All your files will remain.
its never worth doing.....what you really do is do the inplace upgrade to get a copy of 11 on the machine and linked to the bios serial number and then do a complete clean install.....

in place upgrade will leave at least 20gb of garbage files on your drive just encase you want to go back to 10.....
