I'm looking for russians who have fought in the ukraine war.
I want to know the war from the russian perspective.

They're either dead, or still on the frontlines
Even if there are some that are here and actually fought in the war, I doubt that they can even read this thread because a majority don’t speak English.

I don't think a Russian could give you an honest account without them being gulag'd irl. They don't have freedom of speech over there and I'm sure the government is monitoring everything.
check the cemetaries xd or
you could also go play foxhole and see for yourself of all players in the world, Russians are the craziest in how they see things.
It only the Russians and Chinese that think in "private" stuff while everything belongs to everyone like true communism in this game.
It weird AF that these communist countries are acting the least communist as individuals or the whole regiment if they all russian.
I play this game since february on a daily (well more nightly) basis and it also an interesting 'social experiment' within the game itself to have to deal with Russians who think total different than every other player from whatever country.
I also meet a lot of Russian players in Vermintide 2, but there is no time to talk about anything in that game :D

If you want more serious then you could read this:

https://ia801208.us.archive.org/25/items/1997_12_01_Russian_Information_Psychological_Actions_Implications_for_U_S_PSYOP_Thomas/1997-12-01%20Russian%20Information-Psychological%20Actions-Implications%20for%20U.S.%20PSYOP%20%28Thomas%29.pdf

it old, but the current doctrine is still the same as of those days.

Why you think there aren’t tourists going to Russia and asking random strangers how they feel about the war? Almost everything you do or say is restricted and monitored.

it's a bit more complicated than that - like the entire conflict itself.

Even if a Russian vet or deserter made their perspective public it would be systematically repressed on a platform like steam, not to mention other western media channels. Russian deserters, draft dodgers or war critics (provided they were lucky to make it out alive) are smart enough to keep a low profile else they end up like Maksim Kuzminov, or their families get wiped out.

In any case, it pretty much depends where you live. In many Asian and South American countries Russian vets who fought in Ukraine are increasingly becoming a common sight, so it's not that difficult to meet them if you know where to look.

Wait, what??? Families get wiped out? That’s similar to North Korea.

You won't get any answers because nobody comes back alive in order to be able to report.

It was funny watching videos of Ukraine bombing Moscow while Moscowians had city wide party and had no idea they were being bombed.

The news coverage from west does not match the coverage from the east.
