why did Kerr county refuse flood sirens?
Seems a little silly really, place is named 'flash flood alley' and when given the opportunity to recieve federal funds to build proper sirens and early warning systems that WOULD save many lives..... they refused? mostly due to public opposition about taken money from biden admin

Is this a widespread problem in the USA, refusing help to build prevenitive measure to save lives? how can we combat this in future

heres a transcript from 2021 public meeting discussing it

some interesting quotes

....send this money back to the Biden administration, which I consider to be the most criminal treasonous communist government ever to hold the White. And Kerr County should not be accepting anything from these people.

....The money can also be used to buy out small businesses, which then becomes part of the State owned takeover of our economy. Communist style.

The deep state harangue and vilified President Trump for calling COVID for what it was and then suggest responses that were non-draconian, and then when Biden took office, the leftist government took its gloves off.

sad really that misinformation can have this far reaching consequences where people are shooting themselves in the foot - is it time to admit the lies have gone too far

There are places in the US that have removed their tornado sirens because they are "too loud." I'm not even joking either. When it comes to preparing for natural disasters US citizens and the US government are incredibly bad at it.

Misinformation is a real problem when you consider how many people are:
-Not educated enough to understand what it looks like.
-Do not know how to do proper research to check its credibility.
-Have an overall low IQ and never stood a chance intellectually

I don't think there's anything wrong with 'not being smart', but when your decisions and beliefs affect other peoples lives and livelihood: You're a liability.

They should've had sirens installed. The people who died were worth infinitely more than the financial burden of a public alarm system.
