Why are gamers so homophobic?
Like seriously, if you look at other forms of media like books or movies, stories featuring gay side characters or even fully focusing on them as main characters haven’t been causing much controversy and complaints since at the very least late 90s early 00s.

On the other hand in gaming, since games started more commonly featuring stuff like optional gay romances or gay side characters, every release of a game with such elements is accompanied by a very loud group of gamers calling for anything gay to be removed and kept entirely out of gaming. It happened back in the 00s with Dragon Age Origins or ME trilogy and it’s still happening now with games like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. All of that is l just optional content, reactions towards stuff like a mainstream game with gay protagonist would be most likely even stronger than what’s happening around optional gay romance.

Anyone has any idea why gaming is so different from other forms of media when it comes to this?

Because redditors no like woke!!!!!!!!!
Pretty sure it`s political activists who are doing the complaining, not gamers. Most of those people couldn`t care less about games, they just use this to spread their agenda.
Because things are more fun when they're taboo. :BErainbow:

nature abhors the unnatural.
Because our sixth sense is telling us when it's forced. It didn't use to be, but in the past 5-6 years it has been.
Gamers, like all humans are mostly awful.
why are gamers such snowflakes?
For the "lolz"
from what i have seen in movies and shows the last year or so is them trying to force a change in behaviors and that is the problem! so i'm sure as a media games are the same. theres your answer don't force things

I don't see how representation is attempting to force any changes in behaviour

i agree its not and its been done right but i guess i mean unnaturally implemented just to have it, not because they have a story for said gay character. or like don't make it distracting is a better way to put it .

There is a difference between "Gay Character" and "Character that just so happens to be Gay."

If a character feels natural, almost no one complains. If it feels forced and preachy, that is when you start getting push back.

I have never seen or heard anybody complaining about the marriage options in Skyrim or about Syrim in general because of that so I think that most gamers are wokephobic rather than homophobic, which is a good thing.
