Why is the US in climate denial?
We already passed 1.5C and blew through 2C briefly. In 2014, it was only 0.8C, that's a huge increase. We're headed towards 2.7C before 2040 at this rate.

What's going in the US? Over here in Europe, we take the climate collapse very seriously but it seems like the US thinks scientists fabricated it.

It absolutely is in denial, and even in Europe climate change probably isn't taken as seriously as 5-10 years ago. But I will criticize scientists and activists a bit there : I think climate alarmism has had negative effects in the long run.

It's true, people are more likely to remember and act on the worst-case scenario. But when that doesn't come to pass, they assume the whole thing is a lie (because they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid).

Climate change won't cause the extinction of the human race, but it will annihilate other species, make some regions far less habitable/workable and trigger the biggest refugee crisis in history.

Cause the economy and cost of living are bigger issues that people care about. Hard to care about a problem decades from now when the immediate issue is putting food on the table next week.

Remember when netzero was for dial-up internet? The good old days...
Accepting that climate change is real would mean for people to change their lifestyle. They don't want that and therefore they simply claim that the problem does not exist.

The ironic part is, that some of those climate deniers invest so much energy in time in their fight agiainst mainstream science, they could have used these resources to actually fight climate change.

Lets pretend the anthropocentric climate change hypothesis is correct.

Is it not a global phenomenon? Both the USA and Europe have made great strides in reducing emissions over the past 20 years. They've done so much investing and regulating, you even see solar panels on at least 1/10 of the houses and on many large department stores.
Which country emits the most emissions? China. They emit more CO2 than the US and Europe combined. So you'd think they'd be reducing their emissions due to the impending crisis, but they are not. They don't even show up to global climate conferences or follow any global goals. Even according to their own plans (which they can change at any time) they are not going to reach peak emissions for several more years. The worst polluter on the planet is going to emit more and more every year at least until 2030 or so.
I'm sure there is a very similar story with India as well. They aren't as bad as China but are growing. Most of Southeast Asia pollutes willy-nilly as well (much worse things than CO2) and we all know Africa doesn't care about the climate either.

All of the change imaginable, even if we somehow became completely carbon neutral by 2030 ( which is literally impossible), still wouldn't make a difference because all of southern/eastern Asia doesn't care and is not playing ball. All we are doing is kneecapping ourselves on the world stage.

What is China and India doing? That's 35% of the global population. What happens when their citizens increase their standard of living over the coming decades?

And? Some of those "eco warriors", as they call themselves, still buy stuff made in china and india, buy electrical items with lithium batteries, and still go on a plane multiple times a year on holiday.

It's hypocrisy, if not outright lying.
How much of the recent warming is due to man-man problems vs the fact we had a mini-ice age end not even 200 years ago?

This is how the farmers in the Amazon forest think right now. Make profit here and now and care less about many trees they cut down just to expand thier farms. Brazil goverment is corrrupt aswell on that part. Cutting down 10.000 km2 land without planting new trees. Imao Amazon rainforest should be turned into a natrual zone where no one are allowed to have a farm or build roads. Then those farmers can walk elswhere and grow thier stuff where its allowed.

Ultimately, because acknowledging it is a problem for select wealthy people who are just straight up more important than everyone else.

Oil barons, for example.

We don't need to pretend that, it's fact.

This is just a lazy excuse to do nothing about the problem. "My neigbor is not cleaing his yard, so why should I".
At least China is not denying that the problem exists and IS trying to reduce emissions.

You just don't want to change your lifestyle, that's all.

There are scientific studies that answer your question, but you are not actually asking to learn something but to have an excuse to not change anything in your life.
*Sigh*, not one of these threads again.

I think you should be more worried about the people behind perpetuating the lie. I feel sorry for Europe and Europeans, you chose globalism, not freedom.
